Days of our Lives: March 17 Live Thoughts
Days of our Lives: March 17 Live Thoughts
Happy St. Patrick's Day, everyone, and welcome to another week of Days of our Lives!  If you remember from last week's Days of our Lives, Chelsea (Rachel Melvin) got massively drunk, not knowing that the entire family wants to scavenge part of her pancreas to save Bo's life.  Daniel rushes her to the hospital and gets a tox screen and all this medical stuff to determine what substances are running through her system.  Meanwhile, Bo (Peter Reckell) is still refusing to do the operation because he doesn't want to risk his daughter's life.

Marlena (Deidre Hall) asks to meet Philip (Jay Kenneth Johnson) down at the pier to talk about John.  Elsewhere at the pier, John (Drake Hogestyn) has a clandestine meeting of his own.  He meets with a customs agent, planning to bribe him to favor DiMera shipping over Kiriakis shipping.

Lexie gets Bo ready for pre-op.  Then she explains to Hope what they will be doing.  They are going to "piggy-back" part of Chelsea's pancreas onto Bo's.  Lexie gives Bo a sedative that knocks him out, rendering him incapacitated and thus incapable of refusing the surgery.  He did not sign the consent forms, and now that he's unconscious, Hope is able to do that for him.  Every day, I think that Days of our Lives can't possibly cross anymore ethical boundaries, but every day, I am surprised.  Lexie basically has made the decision to do the surgery against her patient's wishes.  How is this possible?

Daniel lectures Chelsea on her irresponsible behavior.  Kate (Lauren Koslow) steps in to defend her granddaughter by saying that Daniel should have given Chelsea some guidelines, which is true.  Daniel starts yelling at Chelsea, making her feel worse about herself.  Shawn gets indignant on her behalf, but Daniel yelled at her on purpose: to get her heart pumping faster so that the IV fluids will go through her system faster.  Again, with the ethical boundary crossing!  After his talk with Shawn, Daniel goes back into Chelsea's room to apologize and to explain why he was making her angry.  Daniel asks her if there is anything else that she can think of that will raise her heartrate?  Ooh, I think the writers are trying to re-ignite the contrived crush on Daniel that Chelsea has.

Belle (Martha Madison) tells Hope, Victor and Caroline (Peggy McCay) the problem about Chelsea's drunkenness.   Hope gets on her uppity high horse, furious at Chelsea's stupidity.  She says that if Bo dies because Chelsea can't get sober fast enough, then Hope will never forgive her.  Geez, I can't believe that these people are actually human.  I don't think that Hope and everyone are allowed to demonize Chelsea so eagerly like this, especially since they don't seem to be thinking twice about cutting her up and harvesting her organs.

At the pier, the customs guy tells John secretly that the shipping business is Victor Kiriakis' bread and butter.  John wants some of that bread and most of the butter.  Meanwhile, Marlena tells Philip all about John's plan to take over the Kiriakis shipping empire.  The thing is, she didn't pick a private enough spot to tell secrets because John just walks over a few steps from his secret meeting and catches Marlena consorting with the enemy.  John and Philip have a tense standoff.  Marlena gets a phone call from the hospital with updates about Chelsea, and she and Philip get ready to head to the hospital immediately.  John sneers to Philip that this is precisely the reason why he is going to lose their shipping war, because Philip concerns himself with trivial personal matters of family and such.

At the hospital, Bo somehow wakes up, despite the sedatives that Lexie pumped him with.  And then he goes unconscious again, leading Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) and Lexie to work frantically on him.  Maybe he's just responding to the drugs they gave him, though?  Lexie goes to check on Chelsea, whose blood alcohol level is still not down enough.  Kate suggests that she try getting angry at something, like Daniel wanted her to.  In the waiting room, Belle sees that John has arrived.  He asks her not to tell anyone that he's there, though, lest they realize that he does, in fact, have a heart and concerns himself with trivial personal matters of family and such.

Next on Days of our Lives: Stephanie bolsters Max's confidence, Hope puts all her hope into Daniel's hands, Chelsea goes missing again!
