Days of our Lives: July 21 Live Thoughts

Josh TaylorThe drama continues for another week on Days of our Lives.  Today's episode begins with Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) all decked out in his new orange prison jumpsuit.  Roman (Josh Taylor) is about to take him to maximum security prison.  Before he goes, Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin) comes to visit him.

In happier news, Caroline (Peggy McCay) and Maggie Horton have sneaked into Kayla and Steve's apartment, decorated and filled with baby stuff to welcome baby Joey home for the first time.

Sami (Alison Sweeney) rushes home to look for Marlena (Deidre Hall) and tells her that Lucas is being sent away again, and also that the guy subletting her apartment is moving out.  She would love to move back into her own apartment, but she can't because she'll lose custody of Johnny if she does.

Also talking real estate today on Days of our Lives is Ava, who is on the phone with someone about an apartment.  The person hangs up on her as soon as she tells him her name.  She's pissed off about her living situation.  No one will rent to her, and she doesn't want to buy anything because there might be a good chance she'll be going to prison soon.

John (Drake Hogestyn) interferes in Sami and Marlena's conversation.  He says that since Sami is in need of a subletter, he thinks he should rent it to Ava Vitali, which Sami thinks is a terrible idea.  John says that if she doesn't rent it out to her, he'll let Ava live with him in the DiMera mansion, and that's the thing that finally convinces Sami to show her the apartment.

A nurse sets up an apnea monitor for Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) and Steve (Stephen Nichols), which is a precautionary measure in case Joey has problems breathing.  Kayla gets a bit emotional.  Caroline and Maggie have stocked up Kayla and Steve's fridge with casseroles and such.  Caroline notices that Kayla is a nervous wreck and offers some words of encouragement.

Across the hallway, Sami shows Ava her apartment, which Ava loves.  She decides to take it on the spot.  As Sami goes to talk to her landlord about it, Ava calls John and gushes about how excited she is.  Sami goes across the hall to tell Steve and Kayla that Ava will be their new across-the-hall neighbor.  Kayla is pissed off at both Sami and Ava, and tells Ava to find some other place to live.  Kayla storms inside.  Kayla flashbacks to the time when Ava held them captive, and she caught her and Steve in bed together.  She doesn't want Ava anywhere near her or her baby boy because Ava is the cause of everything bad going on with their family.  Steve tells her that they can't let Ava dictate their future.  Kayla also says that she can't stop picturing Steve and Ava together, so Steve makes a huge, dramatic speech about how he loves Kayla and only Kayla, and how Ava forced him to be with her.  Kayla tearfully wishes that Steve had told her about his past with Ava as soon as he remembered it.

Sami stomps down to the pub and snarks to Chloe that Lucas is being transported to maximum security prison today.  Chloe retorts that it was all Sami's fault that Lucas broke house arrest - because she pitted Lucas against EJ.  Lucas needed someone to talk to and Chloe was merely there for him.  Where was Sami?

Ava goes up to the roof of the building and John finds her there.  He gives her a "buck up, camper" speech, which ends with her asking to move in with him.  He says that he doesn't want her to move in while he's still legally married to Marlena, but he was looking forward to getting to know her intimately at her new digs wherever they end up being.  They seal their agreement with a kiss.  They succeed in getting themselves all worked up, and start tearing each other's clothes off.

At the police station, Chloe tells Lucas that she feels like it was all her fault that he's being sent back to prison, since he got caught when he went to see her.  He assures her that he doesn't regret any of it, and will always remember their night together in the elevator.  Roman takes him away.  Marlena comes back and when Roman returns from escorting Lucas away, she asks him for help in getting John's memory back.  She gives Roman the broken disc of John's memories.  She won't disclose who gave her the disc (it was Philip), so Roman initially refuses to help her, but since he is powerless to resist Doc's charms, he agrees to do what he can.  She wants him to speak to the D.A. to offer Rolf immunity in exchange for fixing the disc.  Roman advises her that it might be time to let John go.

Next on Days of our Lives: Chelsea asks about her dad and grandpa, Caroline asks Bo about Victor, Philip explains himself to Kate.

What would you do if you were Kayla?
Grudgingly accept Ava as a new neighbor
Throw a fit and make her move out
Something in between these two
