Days of our Lives: January 7 Live Thoughts
Days of our Lives: January 7 Live Thoughts
Days of our Lives is beginning again for another week.  At the sorority house, Chelsea (Rachel Melvin) is expecting Nick (Blake Berris), so she asks Stephanie (Shelley Hennig) to make herself scarce.  Steph sniffs out that Chelsea is planning to tell Nick all about Ford Decker's body so she tries to convince her not to.  But why is Stephanie getting all up in Chelsea's face about that?  Isn't she the one who ran to Max (Darin Brooks) before Ford's body was even cold?  Anyway, Nick comes over with Max, so the two couples pair off.

It's Shawn's (Brandon Beemer) first day at the police academy.  Hope (Kristian Alfonso) is so excited and videotapes him.  Meanwhile, Belle (Martha Madison) asks Philip (Jay Kenneth Johnson) to babysit Claire.

At the police station, the cop on duty won't let Sami (Alison Sweeney) go see Lucas in his cell.  In the cell, EJ (James Scott) recognizes Lucas' (Bryan Dattillo) cellmate as Stefano's henchman, and the three of them get into a fight.

And, if you remember from Friday's Days of our Lives, the houseguest was approaching Marlena (Deidre Hall) in a most menacing fashion.  This is still going on.

Crystal (Ashlee Holland) is sitting in the Brady pub calling someone frantically, but with no answer.  The person she's calling is Marlena who can't answer because the houseguest is approaching her very, very slowly.  She gets into her car, and the houseguest cleans out her snow-covered windshield wipers.  Roman (Josh Taylor) and Belle show up, thinking that Marlena is in trouble.  But Marlena is exhibiting Stockholm syndrome because all she says is that the man with the ski mask helped her.  But she's late to meet Crystal, so they all rush off.

In Stephanie's room, Max asks her to talk about anything.  But she's still being dodgy and avoidy.  He knows that she's been acting strangely even before Ford's death, so she finally opens up.  She admits that she hated watching him with Morgan, so she went off to look for a party.  If she found someone new, she's be able to handle watching him and Morgan.  She confesses that the person she found was Ford.  Elsewhere, Chelsea wants to talk, but Nick wants to make out.  She's clearly upset, so they start talking.  At first, Nick thinks she's breaking up with him, but she starts to confess what she did to Ford.

Hope and Bo (Peter Reckell) discuss Shawn and Belle.  Bo hopes that those crazy kids can make it work.  Crystal calls someone and reports that Marlena never showed up, and Hope overhears her.  Marlena recognizes Crystal as the psychic and asks what she wants from Marlena.

Stefano is disappointed in Rolf's mishandling of the houseguest.

Sami and Lucas argue.  Nothing new to report here.

Abe Carver (James Reynolds) calls Bo to fill him in on the shenanigans in the jail cell.

Chelsea starts to tell Nick about the last night of Ford's life.  In Stephanie's room, Stephanie tells Max about her night with Ford.  He promises to be supportive and not to judge her.

Marlena talks to Lucas, and EJ talks to Bo about their respective prison roommates.  Bo tells Sami that they are trying to cut a deal with the DA to get Lucas out of jail, and EJ is suddenly furious that they are just going to release the man who shot him.  Sami tells Belle about how angry she is at Lucas for lying to her, but Roman tells her to cut him some slack.  Roman orders the sisters to get out of here and do what sisters do.  I think he means braiding each other's hair and stuff.

Chelsea and Stephanie finish telling their respective boyfriends about their terrible nights with Ford.  Stephanie's story is actually really frightening, and the pseudo-Pink Floyd guitar riffs on the soundtrack make it scarier.  Chelsea's story ends with Ford falling down the stairs and dying.

Bo, Roman and Abe make their case for Lucas to the DA.  But the DA is not changing her mind.

Marlena wants EJ to do something that will put Stefano away for good.

Chelsea finishes her story, and Nick just looks at her accusingly.  He got a haircut too, which looks so much better, I think.

The DA is adamant.  No deal for Lucas.

Sami and Belle have returned from the diner--sadly, their hair is unbraided--with some food for Marlena, but she's not hungry.  Marlena tells Sami that she knows Lucas is a good man and loves her, so she should cut him some slack.

Chloe (whose deal with Philip to split up Belle and Shawn is still going on) meets Shawn at the pub after his first day of orientation at the academy.  She flirts and tells him that he should pick up Claire at Marlena's.  Philip has been watching her all day because Belle asked him to.  Obviously, Shawn is not pleased with this.

Meanwhile, Crystal is still on the phone with some mysterious person, and says that they'll need to take Claire and Belle by force now.

Marlena demands to know what Bo and Roman are going to do to protect their family.  Abe says they'll do whatever they can if it's inside the law, but Marlena is done with the law.  She wants them to protect her and her daughters at whatever cost.

Nick tells Chelsea that he can't be part of her lie.  She should have gone straight to the police as soon as Ford died.  He leaves the sorority house.  In stark contrast, Stephanie asks Max to leave because she can't bear for him to be tangled up in her mess more than he already is.  But he refuses to leave because he knows she needs him.  He makes her get into bed to get some rest and offers to sit next to her all night so that he'll be there when she wakes up.

Also, some stuff happens with Stefano and the houseguest, but just snippets, really.  I wish they would hurry up and reveal his identity already!
