Days of our Lives: January 3 Live Thoughts
Days of our Lives: January 3 Live Thoughts
Days of our Lives begins with Belle (Martha Madison) still looking completely depressed.  Marlena (Deidre Hall) tells her that true love means forgiving the unforgivable.  Shawn (Brandon Beemer) shows up at the door with Claire in his arms.

Philip (Jay Kenneth Johnson) advises Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) at the police station on how to get out of his predicament.

Sami (Alison Sweeney) is at home alone with the twins when EJ (James Scott) shows up.  EJ offers once more to help Lucas, and Sami is incredulous that he thinks she would accept it.

Stefano (Joseph Mascolo) hears of Lucas' arrest and orders one of his henchmen to do a task for him.

Claire jumps out of Shawn's arms and runs across the room to Belle.  She looks different.  Are they using a different child actor?  I don't remember the long brown pigtails.  Shawn quickly leaves, and Marlena advises Belle to give him some time and space.

It is back to the scowl-off between Lucas and Philip at the police station.  Philip admires Lucas for taking control of his life by shooting EJ, but Lucas doesn't feel like a hero.  Philip offers to help out.

EJ tells Sami that he stood up to Stefano about raising baby Johnny, so he and Stefano are on the outs now.  Sami is incredulous.  She deduces that he must have some kind of serious leverage on Stefano and wants to know what it is.

Speaking of leverage, Stefano tells Rolf that it is time to release the houseguest.  Rolf insists that he's not ready yet, but Stefano is impatient.  He goes to take care of it by himself, without Rolf's help.

Shawn goes back to the pub to talk to Hope (Kristian Alfonso).  Hope confesses that she knew all along about Belle's infidelity, and Shawn is furious with her.  She yells at him to let it out, but he assures her that he won't do anything dumb.  Shawn is tired of always feeling inferior, and he's not going to let Belle ruin his life.

Marlena tells Belle that she shouldn't feel guilty about what she did with Philip.  She made a mistake and should figure out what the cause of it was and move on.

EJ doesn't tell Sami what his leverage on Stefano is.  Sami still wants to know why he is offering to help Lucas.  EJ says that he's helping her and their child, not Lucas.

Marlena suggests to Belle to give Shawn some time, and also tells her about Sami's troubles with Lucas getting arrested.  Roman (Josh Taylor) comes over to follow up with Marlena about the psychic.  Belle leaves with Claire, giving them a chance to talk openly about the possibility of John being alive.

Lucas, with furrowed brown, wants to confess that he was the one who shot the gun, but Philip tells him never to say that again, that he'll get him out on bail soon and will bribe the judge if he has to.

Shawn tells Hope that he told Belle he wants a divorce.  Hope asks him to think about it some more, but before he can respond, Philip strides into the pub.  Philip says that Belle could be in danger.

Speaking of Belle, she has brought Claire over to Sami's.  She tells her half-sister that she confessed her infidelity to Shawn and he wants a divorce now.  Sami is sure that Shawn will forgive her.

Philip tells Shawn and Hope that Belle is in some kind of trouble because of Chloe, but he can't get into it because Shawn tells him to leave.  Philip leaves the pub and calls Marlena.  He needs to talk to Belle soon and it's important.

EJ is outside the DiMera mansion, but Rolf won't let him in.  From inside, we hear a blood-curling male voice screaming.

Roman doesn't have any news about Crystal, but he does have something on the medallion that hangs on the neck of the mysterious woman in John's old picture who might be his real mother.  The medallion is a Celtic symbol that means warrior woman.

Sami tells Belle that Lucas lied to her about shooting EJ.  There's a knock at the door.  A couple claiming to have moved in upstairs needs Belle to move her car.  But the scary music in the background tells me that it might all be a set up.  As soon as Belle is out in the hallway, the couple, calling her by name, tell her that she's in trouble and need to come with them right away. Belle gets spooked and bangs on Sami's door for help.  Then Philip shows up and asks what's wrong.

Stefano finally lets EJ in.  EJ wants to make a deal.  He wants Stefano's word that Lucas won't be killed before he goes to trial.  Maybe Days of our Lives should have Lucas shot and EJ shot again too, and then they can be wheelchair buddies!

Hope goes back to the pub to apologize again to Shawn.  He says that he'll deal with it, but on his own.

Sami is home with a crying baby in her arms.  Lucas calls and gets the answering machine, but she doesn't pick up.  He says on the mean that he misses her and that he loves her.

EJ tells his daddy that he doesn't want to live by the DiMera code anymore.  This doesn't please Stefano, who says that the wheels are in motion for Lucas' comeuppance.  Lucas is being escorted into a jail cell, which already has a very large, very burley occupant.  He's Stefano's henchman, and I sense a beat-down coming.

After Roman leaves, Marlena picks up the phone to call Stefano.  But instead of reaching Stefano, a cellphone in the houseguest's hand starts to ring.

Next on Days of our Lives: Stefano says that Lucas must pay, EJ warns that Lucas is in danger, Lucas' cellmate gets ready to strike.
