Days of our Lives: January 29 Live Thoughts
Days of our Lives: January 29 Live Thoughts
Steve (Stephen Nichols) is devastated today on Days of our Lives.  He tells Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) that he wants to kill the son of a bitch who raped his little girl, but he can't because he's already dead.

Anna and Tony (Thaao Penghlis) are back in Salem after island-hopping around the Mediterranean.  Tony does look awfully orange, so he must have gotten some sun on their trip.  He's about to make a big announcement to Anna over dinner at the pub, but Caroline (Peggy McCay) interrupts them to say how-do and to tell them the terrible news about Claire.

Marlena (Deidre Hall), after effectively putting Stefano into a coma on yesterday's Days of our Lives, offers to help John (Drake Hogestyn) with his mission.

Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope (Kristian Alfonso) head out to the hospital to get their physicals before catching their plane for Ireland.  Abe Carver (James Reynolds) gets on the phone once they are gone.

Kayla tries to calm Steve down and prevent him from doing something that he'll regret later, but he meant what he said: he wishes that he could have killed the little bastard.

Tony gets back to his big announcement.  Anna thinks he's about to propose and gets giddy, but his big announcement is actually that he's starting a legit business in Salem.  He just bought an advertising agency to prove to everyone that he's not following in his father's footsteps.  He is completely clueless that Anna was expecting a proposal, and she leaves in a huff.

At the hospital, Kayla takes Hope for the physical and Lexie Carver (Renee Jones) examines Bo, much to Bo's embarrassment.  Crawford Decker walks into the hospital, and Steve confronts him.  The grieving fathers exchange extended threats.

Dr. Carrington orders a full exam and tox screen to find out what happened to Stefano (Joseph Mascolo).  Stefano's still conscious and sustains a running internal monologue.

John promises to Marlena that he won't hurt her or anyone she loves as long as she keeps helping him.  Of course, he makes no promises about what he would do if she stopped helping him.  Roman (Josh Taylor) comes in and asks to speak to Marlena privately.

Tony sidles up to Anna at the bar and asks her what he did wrong.  This is clearly the comic relief portion of this Days of our Lives hour.

Roman questions Marlena about whether she was responsible for Stefano's stroke.  She finally convinces him that she had nothing to do with it.  Inside his room, John says aloud that he will fulfill his mission and take out his target.  And he'll kill Marlena if she gets in his way.

Lexie tells Bo a secret: her name has been submitted for the chief of staff position.  Next door, Kayla admits to Hope that Stephanie was raped.  Now, all I can think about is that these people are in rooms with curtains for walls.  If they are going to tell secrets, they should go somewhere private!

Anna whines that she shouldn't have to tell Tony what's on her mind.

Abe catches up with Bo and Hope at the hospital with news.  Meanwhile Roman accompanies Dr. Carrington to look at Stefano's test results.

Marlena infiltrates a hospital computer and changes John's test results, while alone in his room, John talks to himself.  Well, Marlena's talking to herself too, so maybe both of them could use some time in the psych ward.  She readies herself for their trip to Ireland by stealing strong sedatives from the hospital, just in case she needs to control John.

Outside the pub, a young, perky, nerdy type named Ethan Blaine finds Tony.  He works for the company that Tony just bought and has found him to offer his services.  Tony is a little weirded out by Ethan's Red Bull addiction but gives him some administrative tasks to do anyway.  Inside the pub, Anna complains to Caroline about Tony's ignorance.  Caroline suggests that Anna get a job at a rival advertising firm to give Tony a run for his money.

Abe's news is that he had Hope's reinstatement into the force expedited, so she will get to go to Ireland in an official capacity.  But wait!  He has more to say.

Marlena has arranged for John's private jet to take them to Ireland.  She unlocks his handcuffs and dresses him up in surgical scrubs as a disguise.  She gives the nurse a dressing down in order to make it clear for their getaway.

After all that, Abe just tells Bo and Hope that they won't have local jurisdiction in Ireland, but they'll be able to work with Interpol.  I think this is foreshadowing.  Bo is clearly going to go Lone Ranger in Ireland, I know it.

Everyone's talking to themselves today.  Lexie excitedly opens a letter and says aloud that she has been approved to be the new chief of staff.  But her celebrating is cut short when someone informs her that her father just had a stroke and is in the ICU right now.

Anna breaks up with the still perplexed Tony.

Bo welcomes his Detective Fancy Face back to the force and they leave to catch their plane to Ireland.

Next on Days of our Lives: Stephanie asks how many women Crawford has raped, Belle tries one more time to get back into Shawn's good graces under Chloe's watchful eye.
