Days of our Lives
begins at Colleen's (Shirley Jones) deathbed. She has gathered all of her loved ones around her and makes her last wise woman speech before she passes over into the great yonder.
Philip (Jay Kenneth Johnson
) and Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin), left out of the Brady family gathering upstairs, sit together discussing how Philip feels left out that Shawn and Belle didn't entrust him to look after Claire. Well, Philip denies it. Lexie (Renee Jones) calls Philip from Salem, looking for Kayla.
Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.
Upstairs, John (Drake Hogestyn
) runs his mouth off at his mother Colleen, denouncing her as cruel, deceitful and manipulative. Grandpa (Frank Parker
) gets angry and yells at him, but he's such a frail old man that his shouts are largely useless. Colleen still has some fire left in her and tells John to shut his smart mouth. She defends Santo's memory and uses it to try to convince John that he's a good man.
Next, Colleen turns her attention to each of her relations individually. She tells Belle (Martha Madison
) and Shawn (Brandon Beemer
) that they and Claire are the future of the family. Colleen tells Bo (Peter Reckell
) that even though he doesn't have the Brady blood running through his veins, he's still a good man. (Phew! Confirmation that Belle and Shawn aren't incestuous.) Finally, she tells Marlena (Deidre Hall
) that she is the tower of strength in the family. She hugs each person individually, ending with Grandpa Shawn.
Belle takes off the Celtic medallion that Colleen bequeathed to her and gives it to John to give to Sami back home. He doesn't really care about it, though, and tosses it aside. Just as Colleen's about to die, she asks John for a hug. John, looking conflicted, finally relents. Actually, he just goes over and sits next to her bed, with his back toward her, so that she can hug him from behind. But, he changes his mind and decides to hug her, right before her last breath. As soon as she dies, he tentatively checks her pulse and her breath. Everyone else hugs and cries silently.
Meanwhile, in Salem, Lexie is talking on the phone with another doctor about Bo's troubling, possibly fatal test results. In Ireland, Philip tells Chloe about his harrowing time on the battlefield and they talk more about trying to get to the bottom of Brady's disappearance.
All the Bradys come downstairs after Colleen's death. Chloe runs to make them all some tea, giving Belle and Shawn a chance to talk about their future together. They agree to try again to make their marriage work. Philip gives Kayla (Mary Beth Evans
) the message that Lexie called. When Kayla calls her back, Lexie has some more bad news. She reviewed the results of the blood work and it's worse than they originally thought. But wait! There's more! Kayla is with child! Ah, the circle of life. One Brady dies, and another will soon be born to replace her.
Marlena asks John what he's feeling. He feels like calling his jet and getting the hell out of here. Marlena begins to oblige, but she notices that something is happening in his eyes. She thinks he's beginning to regain his memories, which he denies but we all know that he's lying. He sneaks into Colleen's room to say good-bye to his mum one last time, even shedding a tear in the process.
