Days of our Lives: February 26 Live Thoughts
Days of our Lives: February 26 Live Thoughts
Days of our Lives begins today with sisters Sami (Alison Sweeney) and Belle (Martha Madison) standing outside the Brady Pub, talking about how the pub and their family will never be the same without Grandpa Shawn.  They walk inside to see Caroline (Peggy McCay) with Roman (Josh Taylor) and Shawn-D (Brandon Beemer) making funeral arrangements with the priest.  EJ (James Scott) comes in after a while with the double-stroller full of twins.  Everyone besides Sami looks shocked to see him.

At the Johnson residence, Steve (Stephen Nichols) insists that Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) to go lie down in bed to get some rest.  As soon as she does, Steve goes to meet someone, but he is thwarted by Stephanie (Shelley Hennig) coming home.

John (Drake Hogestyn) is busy going through Stefano's paperwork when Marlena (Deidre Hall) comes by.  He tells her that he wants to see Stefano at the sanitarium, but she doesn't want to play along at first.  She finally changes her mind when John tells her that his memory might be jogged if he sees Stefano again.  They are almost out the door when Abe (James Reynolds) comes by with unfinished business with John.  Abe says that according to the Salem PD, John is still supposed to be in protective custody.  John offers a way to prove that he's not a threat to anyone.  They call Lexie (Renee Jones) to sign off on John's clean bill of mental health, and finally Abe acquiesces.

Roman offers to do the eulogy.  Sami and Belle share a sisterly moment, discussing the loves of their lives.  EJ overhears and looks down at the mention of Lucas' name, and Caroline offers her sympathies by saying that she knows how he feels.  She understands that the look on his face means "I've made mistakes and I want to do whatever it takes to make it right."  You see, Caroline cheated on Grandpa Shawn with Victor Kiriakis way back in Days of our Lives past, don'cha know.  Caroline sees that EJ really loves Sami and really wants to change.  She decides to invite EJ to the funeral, and he accepts the invitation.  After their talk, Caroline puts everyone to work to make tomorrow the best Irish wake ever.  They've already got a fresh keg, but they still need to make sure the bar is stocked and the butcher, the baker and candlestick maker is called.  This is one wake I'm looking forward too.

Steve tries to get past Stephanie, who suspects that her papa is up to something.  He continues to act dodgy.  He manages to get rid of her by having her go to the store to pick up some chips and dip for Kayla.  Steve ducks out as soon as Stephanie is gone.  Stephanie comes home bearing snacks, while elsewhere, the mysterious woman instructs a lackey to tail Steve and find out everything there is to know about him and his family.

Steve comes home and calls his informant.  We finally learn the name of the mystery woman.  It's Ava (but we already knew that, didn't we?) and she's got an important-ish father.  She and the informant were members of a circle of friends that Steve was a part of way back when.  Apparently, Steve walked away from Ava in the past, and now she needs revenge for that.  The information that Steve got from the informant about Ava's whereabouts didn't pan out.  He needs to redouble his efforts to find that crazy bitch Ava, or else more people will die.

Stephanie, feeling slightly uncomfortable with watching her parents canoodle, offers to leave and give them some privacy.  But Steve insists a little bit too vehemently that she stay.  He tries to deflect the attention away from himself and onto Kayla's belly, and it actually works.  But Stephanie succeeds in getting out of the house anyway.

Sami and EJ go home, and Sami dissolves into pained tears because of her grandfather's death.  She's still sort of mad at EJ, but she allows him to fold her up into his arms while she cries.  They have a moment in which they look soulfully into each other's eyes, but she breaks it off and leaves the room.

Meanwhile, Marlena and John are at the sanitarium to visit Stefano.  John monologues at him hatefully that Colleen Brady was his mother.  Locked inside his own head, Stefano is shocked to hear the news.  He says to himself that he will always own a part of John's brain--the part that he downloaded onto a mini disc.

Next on Days of our Lives: Victor drives, John hugs, and Hope asks tough questions.
