Days of our Lives: December 19 Live Thoughts
Days of our Lives: December 19 Live Thoughts
Yesterday on Days of our Lives, Cordy asked Stephanie (Shelley Hennig) to talk to someone she trusts about her rape.  Max (Darin Brooks) overhears her.  Today's Days of our Lives begins right where we left off yesterday.  Max asks Stephanie if she's okay.  The subtext in his voice indicates that he's figured out that Stephanie must have been raped as well, but I've found that on this show, characters need to be hit on the head over and over before they figure things out.

Philip (Jay Kenneth Johnson) and Kate (Lauren Koslow) meet with the district attorney who offers a plea deal.

Stefano (Joseph Mascolo) has invited Alessandro, a South American president whom the DiMeras have placed into power.  Stefano asks him to off his female nemesis.

Max wants Stephanie to tell him what's on her mind, but she plays it off as no big deal.  Max gets a little bit hurt that she isn't confiding in him, and they have a tiff.  Before he takes off, Stephanie starts to confess what happened.

The D.A. explains to Philip and Kate that the plea bargain is a one-time offer and non-negotiable.  If she pleads guilty to making terrorist threats, the maximum prison sentence will be 18 months.  Kate isn't happy about going to prison.

At Marlena's (Deidre Hall) house, Hope (Kristian Alfonso) is over to help her go through John's belongings.  Marlena admits that she threatened Stefano enough to put the fear of God into him.  She says she'll be ready if he retaliates.  She's probably the female nemesis who has been sending Stefano those cartoon ransom-note-style letters!

Max and Stephanie sit down at the bar at Chez Rouge.  She apologizes for being such a jerk.  He holds her hand and asks her to talk, but she just changes the subject to Cordy.  Stephanie tells him that he's been great and supportive lately, but she knows that he's just like every other guy: at the end of the day, he's just looking to get laid.

Philip and Kate don't accept the plea bargain, even though if Kate is found guilty, the minimum sentence she'll have to serve is seven years.

Stefano shows Alessandro the threat letters he received.  Stefano thinks that the author of the letters is hiding in Alessandro's ambiguously Latin American country.  Alessandro doesn't go along with the plan at first, but Stefano threatens to destroy him.  Alessandro agrees.

Stephanie continues to pick fights with Max.  She accuses him of just wanting to get into her pants.  Stephanie says that Nick is a better man than Max or Jeremy will ever be.  Max tells her never to compare him to Jeremy Horton again.  Relax, big guy, she compared you to Nick, not to Jeremy.

Marlena freaks out when she finds a bag of the clothes John was wearing when he died.

The D.A. is about to leave, but Philip takes out the big guns.  He plops a bundle of printouts of email conversations between Roman and the district attorney about getting Marlena off the hook.  In light of this new evidence, the D.A. offers Kate a new plea bargain, which wouldn't require her to serve an jail time.  Philip still wants them to lessen the charge to a firearm misdemeanor, and in exchange, Philip says that Kate will be a material witness against Stefano.  Kate, however, hates this plan and would rather go to prison.

Rolf brings Stefano into a super secret room in the mansion where a body is lying on the table, covered up in a tent.  Whatever Rolf was working on with the person on the table is done.

Marlena opens a letter with Spanish writing on the envelope and finds an old black and white photograph of a boy sitting next to a woman.  But the face of the woman has been torn off.  On the back is a note written by "Mama."

Max lays it all out on the table and tells Stephanie he likes her.

Kate doesn't want to wear a wire in the DiMera mansion, but Philip pressures her to.

Marlena looks at the picture.  Hope and Marlena realize that it must be from John's real mother, who was trying to contact him before he died.  Marlena wants to track her down.

Rolf leaves Stefano alone with the patient.  Stefano waxes poetic about the rise and fall of the DiMera Dynasty to the patient.

Max tells Stephanie that he broke up with Morgan.  Stephanie kisses Max, but then in mid-liplock, she gets up and says she can't do this.  She runs out of there.

Kate finally agrees that she'll wear a wire if she has to, which is enough to satisfy the D.A.  Kate tells Philip that he'll have to work is Kiriakis magic to get Lucas off the hook too.  He reluctantly promises to help.

Stefano tells the patient that his sole job is to save the DiMera empire from ruin.  But we don't get to find out the identity of the Patient X today.

Next on Days of our Lives: Roman and Marlena flirt, Hope antagonizes Belle, Philip faces off against Shawn again.
