In an attempt to address the series’ declining ratings,
Days of Our Lives will be cooking up some changes in its upcoming episodes. And to jolt up the plot, the long-running soap opera will be bringing back some of its most notorious characters just like Stefano DiMera, played by Joseph Mascolo.
Of course, the come back of Stefano will also entail to the return of some members of the DiMera clan. Read on to find out more about Mascolo’s return.
Mascolo, a 72-year old actor, has appeared on television dramas like
General Hospital,
Santa Barbara,
Where the Heart Is, and
All in the Family to name a few. He has played the character Stefano DiMera on
Days of Our Lives from 1982 to 1985, returning briefly in 1988 and from 1993 to 2001. Determined to include his character plot with or without Mascolo, writers of
Days of Our Lives have went on to narrate Stefano’s story but have limited the villainous character’s on-cam exposure to angles that did not show his face.
After his stint on
Days of Our Lives, he has been cast on CBS’
The Bold and the Beautiful but has eventually decided to leave the show due to his lack of work.
"Joe has not been happy with the direction of his character and the lack of story [for Massimo]," a source has told soapcentral.com at the time.
After six months of his departure from
The Bold and The Beautiful, Mascolo has signed on with
Days of Our Lives through at least the summer and will start to reprise his role as Stefano DiMera on June 6.
