After playing Ziggy Deadmarsh on The Bold and the Beautiful in 2002, Matthew Borlenghi returns to daytime television to join yet another soap.  This time, he'll be gracing the town of Salem as he joins the cast of Days of our Lives.

Thanks to Soaps.com, we now know that Borlenghi will serve be serving as the Mayor of Salem.  While not much has been revealed about his upcoming storyline on Days of our Lives, he did reveal who he will be interacting with when he brings some law and order to the drama-engulfed town.

“At this time, I don't know to what capacity I will be used, but I know that I will be working with the characters of Roman and Will, the Chief and Commissioner of SPD, and will be shaking things up regarding Stefano,” he told Soaps.com.

“I'm thrilled to be a part of a giant show like Days of Our Lives.  Over the years, no matter how many other mediums I've worked in, I've had a desire to return to daytime TV in that 'special role'.  I think the Mayor of Salem is that role,” he added.

Aside from The Bold and the Beautiful, Borlenghi was noted for his roles as Johnny Barzano on Pig Sty, as Russ Francis on The Jeff Foxworthy Show, as Brian Bodine on All My Children, and as Richard Casey on Police Academy: The Series.  He was also cast in a number of films, including Spider's Web, Bloody Mary, Cougar Club, The Hit, and Jack.  Most recently, he appeared on the Showtime hit series Dexter, Without A Trace, and Standoff In the big screen, he worked in the thriller movie Jack Rio, where he played the title character, and in Skeletons in the Dessert, which starred Gregori J. Martin and Meadow Williams.
