Days of our Lives
continues with the crisis on the seventh floor of the Salem Hospital. Kayla (Mary Beth Evans
), coughing up a storm, puts an oxygen mask on Marlena (Deidre Hall
) before going out into the hallway to see what's going on. Steve (Stephen Nichols
) is locked in the lab and tries to break out, while simultaneously comforting his crying son.
Lucas (Bryan Dattilo
) is also a patient in the hospital. He's in bed with tons of bruises and bandages. Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin
) is at his side, and they start panicking when they realize that a mysterious gas is coming in through the vents. In fact, panic ensues with everyone who is trapped on the floor.

Kayla learns from a nurse that all the phones are broken and the doors out of the floor are locked. Kayla runs to the lab to look for Steve, but lets the door close behind her, trapping them all. Kayla passes out cold, as Steve panics even more. He eventually manages to get her to wake up.
Lucas pulls all the IV's and monitors off and changes out of his hospital nightie. He tries to figure out how to get out of the room, while Chloe keeps trying her cell phone. They decide to split up and search for an exit or something at all.
Someone goes into Marlena's room and takes off her oxygen mask. We don't see who it is, but we do know that it's a man. After a little while, John (Drake Hogestyn
) goes into her room to check on her. He replaces the oxygen mask on her.
Sami (Alison Sweeney
) and EJ (James Scott
) worry together about the twins, even though they are safe with Maggie. Now, we see the first effects of inhaling the gas - it seems to cause hallucinations. Sami suddenly starts seeing EJ as Stefano (Joseph Mascolo
) standing before her and starts freaking out. Sami runs away from EJ, but then runs into the real Stefano. Stefano says that he'll make sure that she's safe as long as she cooperates with him. He spouts a whole bunch of stuff about how he still has hopes and dreams about her and EJ continuing the DiMera line by making more babies. Sami tells him to go to hell and runs away.
EJ finds John who seems not to be suffering any ill effects at all from gas inhalation. John posits that he must have built up an immunity to it because of the experiments and such that were run on him when he was held captive by Stefano and Rolf.
Tony beats himself up for not telling people that he knew that Stefano was awake sooner, but Anna reassures him that he's a good man.
Chloe looks into a mirror and sees that her skin is all burned. She screams, but the vision is only because of the hallucinogenic effects of the gas. She runs out of the room and runs into Stefano. He taunts her for a bit before going into Marlena's room. He takes off her oxygen mask for a bit, and it seems like he wasn't the person who took it off before. (The other man was wearing a ring, and Stefano is not.)
Lucas assures Chloe that her face is fine. They realize that the gas must have hallucinogenic effects. She tells John that she saw Stefano outside of Marlena's room. Lucas gets all groggy and lies down in his bed. Chloe can't rouse him.
John takes Tony on a tour of the ventilation systems in the building to see if they can find a solution to the problem. In the lab, Steve passes out from inhalation.
Sami hides under the stairs from EJ (who she thinks is Stefano). She trips him and he falls down the stairs.
Next on Days of our Lives
