After her stint on Dawson’s Creek, Michelle Williams became visible in the silver screen.  She played the lead role of Anna Watson in A Hole in One, a comedy about lobotomy.  Directed by Richard Ledes, the film also featured Meat Loaf, Tim Guinee, and Wendell Pierce.

In the drama Land of the Plenty, she starred as the lead character Lana.  She was featured as an American daughter of missionaries who embarks on a mission to help homeless people.  Her distinct portrayal earned her an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Female Lead.

Soon after, she became part of the controversial movie Brokeback Mountain.  On the set of the movie, she met actor Heath Ledger, who is now her fiancé and the father of her daughter.  Her portrayal of Alma, the wife of Ledger’s character, earned her several nominations from various award-giving bodies.

This September, the former Dawson’s Creek actress will grace the big screen with the movie I’m Not There.  Directed by Todd Haynes, the film features the ruminations on the life of Bob Dylan.  The cast includes Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, and Ledger.

Furthermore, she is also included in several upcoming films like The Tourist, Incediary, Where the Wild Things Are, Synecdoche, New York, and, last but not the least, Brontë.
