American actor Kerr Smith was born on March 9, 1972 in Exton, Philadelphia. A student of the University of Vermont in Burlington at one point, he started his acting career on the daytime soap As the World Turns, playing Teddy Ellison Hughes in 24 episodes from 1996 to 1997. After a guest stint on Baywatch, he made his film debut on the 1999 romantic comedy Hit and Runway before starring in his first high-profile film, the 2000 horror thriller Final Destination.
He got his first break, however, in the drama series Dawson’s Creek, as the shy new kid on the block Jack McPhee, a 16-year-old high school student who later reveals he is gay. He is known for being part of what is considered the first gay kiss on primetime American television. He was aged 26 when he took on the role, and was already 31 when the show ended its run in 2003.
After other film appearances, such as The Forsaken, Pressure and Cruel Intentions 3, and guest appearances in CSI and The Outer Limits, he was cast in the television series Charmed. He played the role of Agent Kyle Brody, a mysterious federal agent with broad knowledge about the supernatural world, having witnessed his parents’ murder by demons. He also acts as the love interest to Paige (Rose McGowan).
Smith was then case in the military drama E-Ring, where he plays Captain Bobby Wilkerson. Sadly, the series faced huge competition from other networks and was later cancelled in 2006, after one season. He was also part of another short-lived television series, the legal drama Justice, where he played the idealistic trial lawyer Tom Nicholson. It was cancelled after twelve episodes. He was also recently a guest star on CSI: New York. He also holds the distinction of being the last person to appear on the reality show Punk’d.
