'American Idol' Roundup: Two Record Deals and Two New Lovebirds
We're less than a week away from a new season of (People's Choice Award winnerAmerican Idol -- yes, already, another five months of all this crazy... stuff. So, this morning's roundup is a final nod of sorts to all of the folks from last year: we have news of two more record deals and a new Idol romance blooming...

Casey Abrams is officially signed: season 10's bearded jazzy scatter has signed a record deal with Concord Music Group, according to HitFix. The group's roster include artists such as George Benson, James Taylor, Carole King, and last season's Saxophone Lady, Mindi Abair. Expect a jazzy debut from last year's sixth placer, as the press release announcing the signing cites his love of artists such as Ray Charles and Frank Sinatra. Seems the guy's in good company.

Stefano Langone is also officially signed: last year's seventh placer has signed a record deal with Hollywood Records. He's been in the studio for the past month, he tells USA Today; his album, a mix of pop and R&B, is expected to be out in the summer. He's also looking to crack the Latin market, so expect some Spanish-language songs from him soon.

These two signings bring last year's finalist-with-record-deal tally to seven: Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina and James Durbin have released albums, with Pia Toscano and Haley Reinhart working on new material.

Still on season 7: Haley and Stefano are dating! Sorry, Caley fans. James Durbin revealed in an interview with local TV station KBFX (originally reported by MJsBigBlog) that the two Idol finalists attended his recent wedding has each other's plus-ones. The two were spotted together during the tour, so it comes as no surprise -- the outing, on the other hand, well...

Elsewhere in the Idol-sphere:

Adam Levine thinks Idol is insecure: one of the coaches of NBC's The Voice responded to Idol producers' bashing of his show at the TCAs over the weekend. "Any sort of personal attack, to me, is just a form of vulnerability and insecurity," the Maroon 5 vocalist told Zap2it. "To poke fun is one thing, and we've fired back and forth at each other, but there's never been any malicious intent." Maybe until now.

Is Kelly Clarkson singing the National Anthem at this year's Super Bowl? The Tennessean reports that the season 1 winner will perform on the February 5 game, alongside country first couple Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert. Yep, more connections with The Voice. Too uncanny. An official announcement should be out later this month.

David Archuleta will do lots more before heading to his Mormon mission: he tells fans in his latest vlog that, apart from his drama series in the Philippines (he's expected to fly there later this week), he's got plans to record a few more songs. Also, he's taking acting lessons. Again, that drama series in the Philippines.

Jennifer Hudson says she didn't turn down the lead role in Precious because of weight issues: she tells TMZ that she thought the role was "too graphic" for her at the time. (Although she said the former during her Dateline interview.) The role later brought Gabourey Sidibe critical acclaim.

And finally, season 7's Brooke White is expecting: the 28-year-old is pregnant with her first child with hubby Dave Ray, according to People. "My baby's been a gem to me already," she said. She's been told she'll have a daughter, but they'll know for sure soon.
