'American Idol' Roundup: A New Baby, A New Album, And Some Hollywood Round Details
Tonight's American Idol roundup will riff on the theme of everything that's new. A given, since a new season is about to start in a little over a month. Yes, we'll go through all that again. Anyway. The roundup. Let's start, shall we?

Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.

Let's begin by congratulating season 3 winner Fantasia Barrino, who has given birth to a baby boy last Tuesday! Dallas Xavier Barrino was born in a hospital in North Carolina, according to People magazine. This is the singer's second child; her first daughter, Zion, is now ten years old.

Second "new" item: Adam Lambert has announced a release date for his second album, Trespassing. The Idol runner-up's sophomore release hits stores on March 20, and will feature collaborations with Pharrell Williams, Sam Sparro, Nikka Costa, and (surprise, surprise) Bruno Mars. Guessing we'll see a much more dominant electro element to these songs. The first single off the CD, "Better Than I Know Myself", will be available for download on December 20.

Ending the "new" thread: a new Kelly Clarkson video! It's for the second single off her latest album Stronger, "What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger)". If you were one of those who submitted videos for inclusion in the music video, well, I might be seeing you right now:

Elsewhere in the Idol-sphere...

Hollywood round is on! We won't be giving spoilers here (but if you know where to look, you'll find them) but executive producer Nigel Lythgoe has been tweeting a few details from the Hollywood auditions. "Pretty damned good" talent, at least 180 of them, and this funny tweet from the boss:

Whoever you are, I expect to see you in the Idol finale.

It looks like talk of Ryan Seacrest heading to NBC's Today is getting serious, as the Los Angeles Times reports of a "huge inter-office battle ... about what the Today show is going to be next." It is a news program, after all, but having Seacrest replace Matt Lauer would considerably change the show. NBC chairman Ted Harbert is reportedly keen on having the Idol host take over, believing that Seacrest can handle it. Hmm.

And finally, since I cannot get over it, here's a photo of Syesha Mercado, Kris Allen and Allison Iraheta backstage at one of David Archuleta's recent concerts. Man, Allie looks different. Much more different than when I last saw her...

Cannot. Get. Over. Anyway. More news over on the American Idol Insider on Facebook!
