Stone Phillips was born on December 2, 1954 in Texas City, Texas. He attended Parkway West High School and graduated from Yale University. He landed his first major on-air role as a correspondent for
20/20. Previously, he hosted the show
Weekend Magazine with Stone Phillips. He also acted as a host substitute on the show
Good Morning America and as a sports anchor on
World News Sunday. At present, he lives in New York with wife, Debra and son Streeter Phillips.
Ultimately, he became a co-anchor of Dateline, a newsmagazine TV show on NBC.
