We're all familiar with
Jo De La Rosa, the young party-going partner of Slade Smiley on
The Real Wives of Orange County seasons 1 and 2. Last we checked, Jo was focusing on a career in music rather than motherhood or marriage. Going back, she was engaged to father of three Slade, and their relationship was in trouble for Jo's refusal (or perhaps sheer incapability) to settle down and Smiley's strong desire to do so. All's not lost, however, as the two are now in a new kind of relationship, with Smiley managing Jo's singing career and helping his ex-fiancé to find love anew.
Early on, we reported that Jo is leaving the gated communities of Orange County to the fast world of Los Angeles. Since the split, Jo seems to be enjoying the single life and has even recorded a debut single called “You Can't Control Me.” An allusion to Slade? You be the judge.
Bravo will be chronicling this unpredictable journey in a series called
Date My Ex: Jo and Slade, premiering on July 21 at 10pm ET/PT. To set it off, Bravo will air a preview special called “Jo and Slade: The Break Up.” The special will more or less explain the complicated relationship of Jo and Slade, giving viewers a backgrounder on what happened before to give them an idea on what might happen next. Also, it will give them an idea on where the couple currently stands.
After the special,
Date My Ex: Jo and Slade will follow Jo as she goes on a series of dates set up by close friends. To make things interesting, however, these prospects must all live with Slade who will interrogate them after each date, in an effort to weed out the bad ones and give Jo good advice on whom to pick.
"It's weird having your ex help you out dating, and quite frankly I'm a little scared. For the guys," Jo was quoted as saying.
"Jo and Slade: The Break Up" airs Monday, June 30, at 10pm.
