Slated to premiere in TNT for the summer, undercover police drama Dark Blue is reportedly "fast-paced" and comes from CSI and Without a Trace producer Jerry Bruckheimer. The rookie series stars Golden Globe winner Dylan McDermott from The Practice, Logan marshall-Green of The OC, Omari Hardwick of Saved, and Nicki Aycox of Supernatural, an undercover team of police officers that is so covert many of their own colleagues don't even know they are involved.
McDermott plays Carter Shaw, "deeply wounded" after losing his wife and much of his former life, and struggling to bring down bad guys through complex undercover assignments. Hardwick appears as Ty Curtis, who recently married and finds himself struggling with personal relationships precisely because of his undercover work. Marshall-Green, meanwhile, plays Dean Bendis, a "shoot-from-the-hip" officer whose activities leave some of his team members suspecting if he has gone over to the bad side. Lastly, Aycox plays Jaimie Allen, a "green" patrol cop with useful lying skills.
"We're excited to add
Dark Blue and
HawthoRNe to a lineup that is steadily establishing itself as one of the best slates of entertaining, smart dramas on television," said Michael Wright, executive vice president, head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). "Our new series are consistent with our belief that audiences are drawn to relatable, complex characters showcased in exciting, emotional settings and storylines. These new series also reflect our belief that great television comes from great talent. The talent at work on these shows is among the best in the business at delivering quality entertainment."
Dark Blue is debuting alongside medical drama HawthoRNe, which stars Jada Pinkett Smith and focuses on nurses rather than doctors, as most current medical-themed series do.
Dark Blue will premiere on July 15, Wednesday at 8pm.
