Dark Angel star Jessica Alba thought she was doing a good deed when she plastered posters of great white sharks all over different places downtown in Oklahoma City, where she's currently filming her new movie The Killer Inside Me. Evidently, the 28-year-old actress wanted to bring awareness to the deteriorating great white shark population. Unfortunately, Alba's stunt sparked a police investigation.
Alba reportedly displeased several locals since she covered up existing signs, including a bridge, electrical boxes and the United Way, which aims to aid children from low-income families, with glue that won't come off. A rep for United Way, on the other hand, took the high road by saying, "We remain focused on our work rather than this minor distraction."
Consequently, Alba apologized for the blunder.
"I got involved in something I should have had no part of," Alba said in a statement Tuesday. "I realize that I should have used better judgment and I regret not thinking things through before I made a spontaneous and ill-advised decision to let myself get involved with the people behind this campaign."
"A number of shark posters were placed around downtown with heavy-duty glue, making them darn near impossible to get off," Sgt. Gary Knight of the Oklahoma City Police told the
Daily News on Tuesday. "It's basically a vandalism case that could involve our new tagger laws. It will be assigned to a detective, and then we'd send it to the District Attorney's office."
The officer didn't identify Alba by name but a police report, as well as several photos, proved that Alba was the culprit.
After her starring role as Max Guevara on
Dark Angel, in which she won various awards including Actress Teen Choice Award and Saturn Award for Best Actress, Alba concentrated on the big screen and worked on movies like
Sin City, Fantastic Four, Into the Blue and
Good Luck Chuck, just to name a few.
