Sara Evans Biography:
Country singer Sara Evans was born on February 5, 1971 in Missouri, where she grew up in a small farm with her six siblings. She started performing with her family's band at the tender age of 5, but three years later, was hit by a car in front of her house, rendering her legs temporarily immobile. Nevertheless, she kept on singing, partly because she wanted to help cope with the financial demands of her injuries. She eventually made a full recovery and started her solo career at the age of 16 by performing at a local club in Missouri. In 1991, she moved to Nashville, Tennessee in the hopes of gaining more experience and exposure. This is where she met her first husband, Craig Schelske, whom she divorced in 2006. Their partnership not only produced three children, but also helped propel Evans' singing career. She released her debut album, Three Chords and the Truth, in 1997, and came out with her second album, No Place That Far, a year later. Her third album, Born to Fly, made her the most nominated artist at the 2001 Country Music Association Awards, where she took home her first CMA award for best Video of the Year. Her fourth album, A Real Fine Place to Start, earned her two additional CMA nominations, one for Female Vocalist of the Year.
In 2006, Evans joined the popular reality series, Dancing with the Stars, on its third season, where she was paired with
Tony Dovolani . Unfortunately, Evans had to leave the show prematurely on October 12, 2006, in order to carry out her divorce to Craig Schelske.
