Laila Ali Biography:
Laila Ali was born on December 30, 1977 in Miami Beach. Her father is the legendary boxer Muhammad Ali, and in 1999, Laila shocked everyone when she announced that she would also like to explore a career in boxing. Three years later, she made women’s boxing history when she defeated Jackie Frazier-Lyde, daughter of famous boxer Joe Frazier, after eight rounds in the ring. Her professional record includes 24 wins, which (21 of which were obtained by knockout), and no losses. She continues to defend her IWBF lightweight, WBC and WIBA titles, and has beaten big names in the women’s boxing industry in the process.
In 2007, Ali was asked to join the highly-watched ABC reality television series, Dancing with the Stars, where she was paired with dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
