Television/Radio personality and comedian Adam Carolla was born May 27, 1964 in Pennsylvania but was raised in North Hollywood, California. He attended Colfax Elementary School, Walter Reed Junior High, North Hollywood High and Los Angeles Valley College. Even in his early years, his ability to make people laugh was apparent. In all the mentioned schools, Carolla is best remembered as the class clown who never failed to make everyone smile. During his teenage years, he also enjoyed football and was even captain of the school's team. At the age of 18, he began living on his own. To make ends meet, he took on jobs one after another. He worked as a carpet cleaner, a carpenter, a closet builder, a traffic school instructor, a construction worker and a boxing instructor.
With the intention of honing his comedy skills, he joined The Groundlings, an improvisational comedy group based in L.A. He also performed sketch comedy at the ACME Comedy Theater. In 1994, Carolla became boxing instructor to comedian Jimmy Kimmel, and the two became friends. With Kimmel's help and advice, Carolla got a job on
The Kevin and Bean Morning Show. Dr. Drew Pinsky of
Loveline liked Carolla's style and invited him to co-host his show. Carolla's career with the radio show
Loveline began in 1995 and ended in 2005. He was also co-host of the TV version of
Loveline from 1996 to 2000. Carolla, together with close friend Jimmy Kimmel, launched
The Man Show in 1999. He co-hosted the show until 2003. In 2006, he began hosting his own morning radio show,
The Adam Carolla Show.
