"I definitely had my apprehensions, my own fears, my own insecurities about agreeing to do the show. The more I thought about it, I love a challenge. I think it's good to face your fears."

The former Pussycat Dolls front-woman adds that she is "pretty afraid" of Olympic gold medalist Evan Lysacek - "He's like a ballerina on skates." - and would definitely count him along with NFL standout Chad Ochocinco as her toughest competition when kick-off festivities get underway on March 22.

Rehearsals had been tough for Nicole and her partner, Dancing with the Stars season 7 champ Derek Hough. So tough, in fact, that Derek sustained a minor injury after Nicole accidentally kicked him in the face. The swift blow narrowly missed the pro's right eye, leaving a cut on his face.

Despite the accident, the two will perform the Viennese waltz and cha-cha-cha on DWTS' two-hour premiere on Monday.

Nicole will be getting support from on-and-off boyfriend Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton. The British recently said that "things are good" between him and the head Pussycat Doll, and that he knows that she's focusing on DWTS in the mean time.
