Lil' Kim and Derek Hough - Salsa

Lil' Kim is super excited to do the salsa because it is totally down her alley. She promises to bring the bionic booty, and Derek gets some ideas on how to choregraph her solo by asking her to improvise some moves. She kind of looks porny, but Bruno will like that, I'm sure.

Their performance tonight is classic Lil' Kim, full of vigor and sass, and her solo is like watching a peepshow. Really, she has a phenomenal ass that I can only aspire to.

Predictably, Bruno rises to his feet and says that her "booty can do no wrong." Carrie Ann says that her energy level was ridiculous, but Lil' Kim just got a tad bit out of control. (Carrie Ann earns her share of boos for this one.) Len also gets booed, but befuddles everyone with a description of some kind of gross British food.

Backstage, I cringe every time Samantha tries to "speak black" to Lil' Kim.

The scores:
Carrie Ann: 9
Len: 9
Bruno: 9
Total: 27 out of 30, and 52 out of 60 for the evening.

Gilles Marini and Cheryl Burke - Rumba

Cheryl looks like she has a whole bunch of fun teaching Gilles the passionate rumba. She's so funny when she says that moving his hips comes naturally to him.

The routine opens with his solo, which is like sex personaified. After 15 seconds, Cheryl joins him on stage, spinning around wearing a gauzy square of fabric. You know, this sexy stuff comes so naturally to these two. I wonder if they would be able to not be sexy. It's like watching soft-core porn! The audience leaps to their feet in a rousing standing ovation.

However, Carrie Ann thinks that it looked over the top, and gets booed for her efforts. Len, for his part, says that it looked fantastic, but he still would like to see less raunchy bits. Bruno describes a scene from Showgirls.

The scores:
Carrie Ann: 9
Len: 9
Bruno: 9
Total: 27 out of 30, which gives them a 56 out of 60.

Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani - Samba In rehearsal this week, Melissa had a bit of trouble switching gears from the Viennese waltz to the fun party-like samba. She is also pretty freaked out by the prospect of doing the solo.

But as I expected, all of her worries were misdirection because she comes out and dances the solo like a champ. I love her strappy blue-feathered outfit, which might be my favorite outfit of the evening. I think that Melissa is one of the most well-rounded dancer of the competition because she does so well at all of the styles, both traditional and Latin. She ends the routine by hopping up on the judges' table and kicking her feet up.

Len says that Melissa, 100 percent, should be here next week. Bruno says that her samba has everything that anyone could ever want. Carrie Ann feels like she has to point out the flaws since the flaws are the ones that separate the winners from the losers...but, she says that Melissa was flawless.

The scores:
Carrie Ann: 10
Len: 10
Bruno: 10
Total: 30 out of 30, with a total of 57 out of 60 for the evening.

Editor's note: Please help me out! I was having many technical difficulties while watching Dancing with the Stars tonight, so I don't think I am really qualified to put together my usual Performance Rankings for the Top 5. Vote in the showdown that I created, and I'll take your results and publish them into a slideshow with your comments tomorrow!
