The next pair are Simon, 13, and Lucy, 13, who seem very mature in their intro video. They dance the samba tonight, and although it's clearly very good and expertly danced, I think I liked the first couple better. Carrie Ann admires Lucy's lines, and Michael spouts some platitudes about following dreams, and Bruno creeps into creepy territory while praising Lucy.
And the judges' verdict. It's unanimous: Carrie Ann, Michael and Bruno all choose Craig and Samantha, so this pair will be returning for the finals in the kids' competition.
And next, the Pussycat Dolls, featuring Missy Elliott, perform "Whatcha Think About That." I adore Missy Elliott, but honestly, I could live without the Pussycat Dolls. I'm torn. After the performance, Cody gives an update about Julianne. Her surgery went exactly as planned and she is now resting at home. Good news! The only thing is, Edyta Sliwinska is like sex personified. How is Cody possibly going to survive her?
The next couple continuing on to the next round of
Dancing with the Stars is
Warren Sapp and
Kym Johnson.
Now, it's Michael Flatley, Lord of the Dance, to perform a routine entitled "Capone," telling the story of his hometown of Chicago. After a short intro, he does his tap dance kind of thing on a box, and as he dances, the box smokes. Is anyone else reminded of "Once More With Feeling"? Anyone? I hope for his sake that he isn't keeping a lot of secrets from everyone. He just might start singing them. Woah, after a while, the smoke turns to actual flames, and then there's a big explosion. Alight, I wrote yesterday that Michael Flatley is dead to me because he gave Brooke an undeserved 10, but that was pretty cool.
In no particular order, here are the next two couples who will be continuing on in the competition.
Brooke Burke and
Derek Hough are safe. Following them,
Maurice Greene and
Cheryl Burke are also safe. Still in jeopardy, but not necessarily in the bottom two, are
Susan Lucci and
Tony Dovolani, and
Cloris Leachman and
Corky Ballas.
After the final commercial break of the evening, we learn that the couple who has been eliminated is Cloris Leachman and Corky Ballas. Which means that Susan and Tony will live to dance another week. Aww! I know that Cloris' departure is way overdue, but now that she's really going, I'm a little bit sad. She was a helluva funny old broad. For her final words, she sits down on the ballroom dance floor and says, "You know, I'm not leaving." Ha!
