I love dancing and competitive dancing reality shows, and
Dancing with the Stars is no exception. I especially like
Dancing with the Stars because we, the viewing public, get to have so much say over who goes and who stays. There's something exciting and unpredictable about a vote-based reality show that you wouldn't get on a regular show. If audiences got to choose who would become
America's Next Top Model, then
Heather Kuzmich might have won it all.
On
Dancing with the Stars last season, without the audience's votes,
Marie Osmond would almost certainly have been replaced by
Sabrina Bryan in the final three because Sabrina was by far the superior dancer. Even though Sabrina may have deserved it more, the fact that she was booted early on provided some drama that kept us watching.
All of the eliminees thus far on
Dancing with the Stars season 6 have been the lowest-scoring celebrities, with the exception of
Marissa Jaret Winokur in week 3. If this continues to be the case, then what's the point of voting, even?
Perhaps it's because the celebrities this season are all generally likeable and uncontroversial. There really isn't anyone that people love to hate on this year's cast. (Maybe
Adam Carolla fit that role, but he's no longer an issue.) Nor is there anyone who is considered to be America's Darling, who continues to get saved by audience votes despite a lack of talent for dancing. Also, this Monday night was Latin night, supposedly the sexiest night of television but it ended up being a big ol' tepid snoozefest. None of the couples seemed to exhibit any kind of sexual chemistry at all, except perhaps Kristi and Mark, and isn't sexual chemistry the reason why we all like to watch ballroom dancing to begin with?
I don't know about you, but I'm quickly getting bored of this season. There has to be a big shakeup sometime soon, or I might start nodding off in the middle of my live thoughts. I predicted before the season started that
Kristi Yamaguchi would be a shining star at the beginning, but that the public would soon turn against her for being too good. I'm a fan of Kristi's as much as the next girl is, but I'd be willing to sacrifice her if it would increase the drama of the show.
Are you bored by Dancing with the Stars this season?
