Has Dancing with the Stars become a dumping ground for unsuccessful reality show contestants?
It certainly seems that way if ever American Idol third placer Danny Gokey indeed heads to the ABC dancing competition. The 29-year-old Wisconsin native has reportedly expressed interest in dropping the microphone in favor of dancing shoes. The transition from Idol to DWTS, if ever, will hardly be the first of its kind. Just this season, jilted Bachelor winner Melissa Rycroft joined Dancing with the Stars and emerged third in the show's eighth season, which recently concluded with Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson bringing home the mirror-ball trophy.
Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.
Once or twice when Danny tried to dance on Idol, judge Simon Cowell have called it clumsy or awkward.
Another personality who said she was keen on joining Dancing with the Stars
is 31-year-old sportscaster and twice voted Playboy's America's Sexiest Sportscaster Erin Andrews, who, unknown to some people, was on the Dazzlers dance team when she was at Florida
"I love the show, and I've grown up around dancing," she told The Sporting Blog. "People say, 'Oh, you're a dancer, how could you do it?' But I've never taken ballroom, I've never partnered dance with anyone. I think I'd be in the top, unless I fall. I'm a big faller. If you fall, that's a hard fall, which I'm sure would make the Internet very happy."
"And I think I need to represent," Andrews added. "I love Kenny Mayne very much, he's a friend of mine, but I need to help ESPN's name on Dancing With the Stars
. He did nothing for us on that show."
Rycroft, alongside professional partner Tony Dovolany, finished third on the most recent season of Dancing with the Stars
, which wrapped up May 19. Sex and the City the movie's Gilles Marini finished second with partner Cheryl Burke. Johnson's win marks the fifth time a professional athlete has won Dancing with the Stars.- Glenn Diaz, BuddyTV Staff Columnist
