'Dancing with the Stars' Season 5 Contestant Jane Seymour Talks Back Trouble
Thursday, September 20, 2007

Jane Seymour Dancing With the Stars56 Year old Jane Seymour spoke frankly today about her involvement in Dancing with the Stars season 5.  The British actress admitted to, amongst other things, being a Dancing with the Stars junky, but also betrayed a host of  issued that may make anybody betting money on her pause for a moment.
Seymour admitted she had been offered a position in the competition on several occasions but had declined due to her age, and her physical problems.  As it turns out Seymour, who looks as stunning as ever, may not be the picture of health she appears to be, in many ways that could have a very strong impact on her dancing.

"Physically I didn't think I'd be capable of doing it because I have a fused spine and some back issues.  I'm by far the oldest female contestant they've ever had."  Seymour said in a conference call attended by BuddyTV today.

The fusing was the result of surgery to correct a herniated disk.   Seymour was upbeat despite the condition stating that the training for Dancing with the Stars has already been a sort of physical therapy for her.  Despite her upbeat tone, Seymour admitted to having difficulties with moves that required her to shake either her upper body or hips.

As for the back issues being a detriment to medical clearance, Seymour was surprised to learn that the dance training was actually recommended for her particular condition. “I was persuaded when I realized that the dance training would probably help my back rather than hurt it and that this turned out to be my mother's favorite show.”

This is all well and good, but it sounds like Seymour may find the end of her road when the competition begins to get more physical.  Often times, that is when the physically challenged find it harder to stay in the competition, regardless of their popularity.
