Dancing with the Stars: Who will make it through the semi-finals?
This week brings the semi-finals on Dancing with the Stars. Four couples are left: Laila Ali & Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Apolo Anton Ohno & Julianne Hough, Joey Fatone & Kym Johnson, and Ian Ziering & Cheryl Burke.

Well, it seems pretty clear from the comments this week that the readers on this site think that either Joey or Ian will be going home next time. I think it might be Ian – he doesn’t seem to have consistent levels of quality in his dances. (Or maybe I just like Joey better.) Joey’s had all tens before, but Ian hasn’t. Can Ian pull off a perfect score?

It all depends, of course, on how everyone does on Monday’s Dancing with the Stars performance show. I don’t see much chance of Laila Ali or Apolo Anton Ohno getting either low scores or scoring badly enough on the viewer votes to be in the bottom two. However, this is the week they get to do their favourite dances, right? Maybe Joey and Ian have a better chance if they get to do something they know they’re good at.

What do you think? Who’ll be going home this week? Do you vote based on each week’s dances, or on their performances overall so far during their time on Dancing with the Stars?

Commenter Mandy recently asked: “Do they really have the results show live on Tuesdays, or do they film it on Monday right after the show? It seems weird that the stars take time out of their busy lives to show up at the studio for an hour on Tuesday with the same outfit they wore on Monday night.”

Mandy, yes, the results show is live - don’t forget that a lot of what the stars’ schedules involve during their time on Dancing with the Stars is dancing. They all rehearse for hours every day in order to learn the new dances in time for the next Monday’s performances. (I personally don’t understand why they have to wear the same outfit the next day, though.)
