It's getting tough on Dancing with the Stars. And now William Levy has injured his ankle.Ouch
The competition is fierce among the celebrities performing on Dancing with the Stars season 14, and any little misstep can derail the hopes of Mirror Ball glory. Injuries tend to cause these missteps -- and Dancing with the Stars week 5 has plenty. Keep reading for what we can expect this week.
We have plenty of injuries going into Dancing with the Stars
week 5. Only 9 dancers remain, and at least three of them have injuries to work through.
Last week, Melissa Gilbert hit her head and suffered a concussion. The actress missed The Results Show
on Tuesday but is expected to dance in week 5. It's a dangerous prospect. After all, Melissa's head injury precluded much in the way of rehearsal time. Will the other dancers pull ahead?
Maybe not. We found out even before the DWTS
week 4 performances that Maria Menounos was dancing on a broken foot bone. While she did manage to dance (and dance very well, tying for second place), Derek Hough carried his partner piggyback to hear her results. Will the broken foot still be an issue this week? Will it be worse?
There are even new injuries out there. On Sunday, William Levy -- the Latin heartthrob all but guaranteed a spot in the finals (if the screaming girls have any say in the matter) -- tweeted
that he had had an injury:
"Just Wanted to let u know that I injured my right ankle pretty bad during rehearsal.. MRI tomorrow. I'll let u all know .. Love u all"
This does not sound like an emergency situation, but an MRI is always a cause for concern. The Week 5 Dances
Week 5 is Latin Week on Dancing with the Stars
. No, that doesn't mean all William Levy, all of the time. Probably.
What it does mean is Latin dancing. Each performer will dance the samba, the salsa or the Argentine tango. Who is dancing what?
- Melissa Gilbert and Maksim Chmerkovskiy: Salsa
- Gladys Knight and Tristan MacManus: Samba
- Gavin DeGraw and Karina Smirnoff: Samba
- Jaleel White and Kym Johnson: Samba
- Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd: Argentine Tango
- William Levy and Cheryl Burke: ArgentineTango
- Maria Menounos and Derek Hough: Salsa
- Roshon Fegan and Chelsie Hightower: Salsa
- Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas: Argentine Tango
Going into week 5, we are starting to see some of the dancers pulling away from the others, in terms of total scores. But there has been some movement within the leader board itself, indicating that no true front runner is set.
In overall points, here are the standings1.
Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas: 105 total points2.
Roshon Fegan and Chelsie Hightower: 100 total points3. (tie)
Maria Menounos and Derek Hough: 99 total points3. (tie)
William Levy and Cheryl Burke: 99 total points5.
Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd: 98 total points6.
Jaleel White and Kym Johnson: 95 total points7.
Gavin DeGraw and Karina Smirnoff: 88 total points8. (tie)
Gladys Knight and Tristan MacManus: 86 total points8. (tie)
Melissa Gilbert and Maksim Chmerkovskiy: 86 total points
