Wednesday, September 06, 2017
The full line-up for Dancing with the Stars
season 25 has officially been announced. The cast includes athletes
from the NFL, NBA and Paralympics, singers and musicians, reality TV
stars and actors from ABC-owned networks like Freeform and Disney
Here is the full list of 13 pairs who will compete for the Mirror Ball trophy on DWTS season 25.
Property Brothers star Drew Scott and Emma Slater
Disney star Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold
Malcolm in the Middle star Frankie Muniz and Witney Carson
NBA player Derek Fisher and Sharna Burgess
NFL player Terrell Owens and Cheryl Burke
98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey and Peta Murgatroyd
TV host Vanessa Lachey and Maksim Chmerkovskiy
Former Paralympic athlete Victoria Arlen and Val Chmerkovskiy
YouTube violinist Lindsey Stirling and Mark Ballas
Shark Tank's Barbara Corcoran and Keo Motsepe
WWE diva Nikki Bella and Artem Chigvintsev
Pretty Little Liars star Sasha Pieterse and Gleb Savchenko
'80s pop star Debbie Gibson and Alan Bersten
The married couple of Nick and Vanessa Lachey will go head-to-head, partnered with another married pair, Peta and Maks. And the story that's sure to garner the most attention is Victoria Arlen, who spent four years in a vegetative state and only learned to walk last year after being paralyzed from the waist down for a decade.
The new cast continues the trend of being older than normal. There are three stars in their early 20s (Sasha, Victoria and Jordan), but then there are five in their 30s and four in their 40s. The big outlier is Barbara, who at 68 is more than 20 years older than anyone else in the competition.
As for the pros, defending champion Emma Slater is back, as are two-time winners Mark, Cheryl, Val and Peta. Maks and Witney are also past winners while Sharna and Lindsay are still looking for their first Mirror Ball after coming very close in the past few years. Meanwhile, Artem and Keo have never made it to the finale and Alan will try to make a splash in his first time as a pro, though he's paired with the second-oldest contestant of the season.
Dancing with the Stars season 25 premieres Monday, September 18 at 8/7c on ABC.
