The good folks over at
Dancing with the Stars have barely just crowned
Brooke Burke and
Derek Hough as the seventh winning couple in the show's history, and already, there is buzz about the eight season.
Season 8 of
Dancing with the Stars is scheduled to premiere on Monday, March 9, at 8pm ET. Still no word yet on which celebrities will make up the cast, but I'm still crossing my fingers for Ralph Macchio or Tom Selleck. Or better yet, how about both?
Joining ABC's
Dancing hit show will be three new midseason dramas,
Castle,
Cupid and
The Unusuals.
Castle, premiering on Monday, March 9 at 10pm, stars
Nathan Fillion (of
Firefly and, most recently, of
Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog) as a famous mystery novelist named Richard Castle. He learns that a serial killer is copying the murders depicted in his novels, and he soon teams up with NYPD Detective Kate Beckett (played by Stana Katic) to find the killer.
Cupid is a romantic dramedy centering on Trevor Pierce (Bobby Cannavale), who may or may not be the Roman god of love, Cupid. Trevor just happens to be under the care of a psychiatrist named Claire McCrae (
Sarah Paulson), who also likes to help lonely people find their true soulmates. Cupid is the brainchild of Rob Thomas, the brilliant mind behind the teen noir series
Veronica Mars.
Finally,
The Unusuals stars Amber Tamblyn as Casey Shraeger. She is an NYPD vice detective, but unexpectedly finds herself transferred to the homicide division, where she encounters twist sense of humor and a whole bunch of dirty little secrets.
Other ABC spring premieres of note:
The Bachelor returns on Monday, January 5, with a two-hour special, followed by the debut of Tyra Banks' and Ashton Kutchers' joint effort,
True Beauty.
Lost, of course, is returning for a highly-anticipated fifth season on January 21.
Still no word, however, on when
Pushing Daisies,
Eli Stone or
Dirty Sexy Money will wrap up their seasons. None of these series have been renewed for full seasons.
Which of these shows are you most excited about?
