Brooke Burke-Charvet posted the news on her ModernMom Channel on YouTube on Thursday, November 8. The video announcement titled "Cancer. Me?" features the TV host alone in what is probably her home, chatting directly with the camera. Burke-Charvet's disarmingly upbeat attitude persists even when she announces that she will soon undergo surgery for thyroid cancer.

The issue was apparently first noticed when Brooke Burke-Charvet, 41, went in for a routine physical. A node was found on her thyroid, and a biopsy followed. She has undergone tests and multiple medical consultations over the several months that have followed and will now need surgery to remove her thyroid.

Brooke's prognosis does seem good. Although the surgery will leave her with "a nice big scar right here across my neck," it sounds like doctors expect the surgery to be a success. "The doctors say this is a good kind of cancer to have," Burke-Charvet says midway through the video." 'Good cancer?' That sounds so crazy..."

But that does seem to be the case. As Brooke adds shortly after, "My doctor did tell me that this is a happily-ever-after kind of thing."

Brooke Burke-Charvet does not comment on whether or not she would continue on Dancing with the Stars throughout the current All-Stars season. She instead focuses on her upcoming medical treatment, expected recovery and being there for her four children. Brooke does point out the irony that, despite her diagnosis, she feels perfectly healthy. "I've never felt better -- that's what's so crazy about this whole thing," the DWTS co-host exclaims.

Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars, which skipped a results episode this past week because of Election Day, will return for its 8th week of competition on Monday, November 12. We will try to keep you posted if there is word on whether or not Brooke Burke-Charvet will appear
