After wrapping up an injury-laden and some say mediocre seventh season of
Dancing with the Stars, fans of the show have until March 9 to wait before a new season opens. Meanwhile, the Dancing with the Stars Live Tour, very much like the renowned Fox's American Idol tour, recently set off in San Diego, Texas.
According to SheKnows.com Entertainment Editor Joel Amos,
Dancing with the Stars hosts Tom Bergeron and Samantha Harris were still on scene to deliver the goods amidst a set that is the exact replica of the ABC set, complete with the black dance floor and everything, except everything is, well, live.
On the tour are the popular professional dancers including
Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
Cheryl Burke,
Derek Hough, Edtya Sliwinska,
Kym Johnson,
Lacey Schwimmer and
Karina Smirnoff. Joining them are
Lance Bass,
Toni Braxton,
Marlee Matlin, and Warren Greene.
Meanwhile, in other news,
Dancing with the Stars favorite Sliwinska, who was eliminated first last season, will try to go out of the dance floor and branch out as she stars in a whole new arena in spring next year. Sliwinska, 27, will appear in an episode of the CBS procedural
CSI New York as a dance teacher who has a different, somehow odd way of disciplining students – by cutting them into pieces.
Unbeknownst to fans, Sliwinska had been honing her acting skills in between seasons of
Dancing with the Stars along with husband,
Alec Mazo, who is himself a professional dancer on
Dancing with the Stars. For his part, Mazo appears in the critically acclaimed film
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button with Brad Pitt. Mazo will also be playing a dancer who is also Cate Blanchett's lover.
