Dancing with the Stars professional dancers Karina Smirnoff and Maksim Chmerkovskiy are ready to take the next step in their relationship.  Chmerkovskiy popped the question in December 2008 and now, the happy couple is gradually planning for their big day.

"We're probably going to do something in Manhattan, I don't know what," Chmerkovskiy told People Saturday before celebrating the Fourth of July at the Palazzo Las Vegas's Azure pool with his fiancée. "We're moving along, but it's not a fast process."

Apparently, the Dancing with the Stars couple initially wanted the wedding in a castle, specifically the one used in the 1998 movie Meet Joe Black. However, Chmerkovskiy now says the idea has gone by the wayside.

"We've set a wedding month, but we haven't set a date. It's a start," he said. "The wedding is next June. We've hired an amazing wedding planner, but I know what I want."

"It's all about compromise," he added. "When we agree on stuff, that's the best part of [wedding] planning."

So why the sudden publicity surrounding Chmerkovskiy and Smirnoff's wedding? As reported previously, the Dancing with the Stars couple have been offered to star in their own reality series that would follow them as they pursue their dancing careers further, as well as their wedding plans.

"We haven't signed on the dotted line yet, but hopefully it's going to premiere this fall. The show's just us trying to have a normal relationship being in the entertainment industry and opening a studio together," Smiornoff said, adding that it will be "a soap opera in themselves!"

The studio Smirnoff is referring to will be an addition to the several Maksim already own, which includes the Rising Stars Dance Academy and two other social dance studios located in Ridgefield, NJ and Glen Head, NY.
