'Dancing with the Stars' Finals: Winner Predictions

Time to stop procrastinating and time to start picking the winner for this season of Dancing with the Stars! At this point, the dances have been danced, the votes have been cast and the winner (known now only to the DWTS producers) has been chosen. I really have no excuse not to predict the final outcome.

So here it is. I predict the winner will be...

Jennifer Grey
I know, I know. It's the obvious choice and the choice that everybody from here to Zanzibar is making. But there's a good reason for that: Jennifer is good. She and Derek have put on an excellent show every week. At their worst, the pair was better than most of the competition. At their best, Jennifer and Derek have been untouchable.

Before Monday night's performances, I was a little worried that Jennifer might have an off night while repeating her paso doble. Jennifer hasn't been a popular favorite, the way both Kyle and Bristol are, so she needed a strong performance to take the competition.

Fortunately for her, she did it. Instead of the crazy, messy paso doble that we saw before, Jennifer and Derek brought out a thing of beauty. And then their freestyle combined nostalgia and fun with technique to close down the show. Both dances were fully deserving of their perfect scores.

Will it be enough to bring in the support Jennifer needs to win? I think so, although this season has shown that a sure thing just does not exist.

Anyway, on to the second-place prediction...

Kyle Massey
I'm less confident about this prediction, because Bristol definitely has the potential to sneak in ahead of Kyle. He had the better dances, and people love Kyle, but are those factors enough? I'm going to go with yes.

Week 10 did not show us the best of Kyle's dancing. He was too contained in the foxtrot (pleasing Len is not the same as pleasing the world). His freestyle hip hop was well done and entertaining, but it did little to showcase Kyle's flair.

Still, you can't help but love Kyle, and love brings in the votes. I think it will be enough for second place.

Which leaves, for third place...

Bristol Palin
I know there are some who think that Bristol will take the competition, but I like to think that DWTS voters are more discerning than that. Bristol worked hard and put on good performances for the finals, but her dancing was just not on the same level as Jennifer and Kyle.

She could win. She could place second. I know the ABC people would love her to place second, if only for the ensuing uproar. But I think that, in the end, both Jennifer and Kyle will come out ahead.

Final Standings
In brief, here is my prediction:

First place: Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough
Second Place: Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer
Third Place: Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas

What do you think? Who do you expect to win after watching last night's final performances? Let us know by voting in the poll and leaving comments!
