ABC's Monday nights are all about big reality TV competitions. American Idol is currently airing Mondays at 8/7c, but it will go back to Dancing with the Stars starting on April 30. However, the two shows will share the night at the end of May for a special evening of finales.

How Many Female Athletes Have Been on DWTS?>>>

DWTS judge Carrie Ann Inaba co-hosted Live with Kelly and Ryan and revealed to the Idol host that their finales will air on the same night. Inaba revealed details on the upcoming all-athlete edition of Dancing with the Stars, which will be a compact and competitive four-week extravaganza with 10 couples.

Inaba added that both Dancing with the Stars and American Idol will air their finales back-to-back on Monday, May 21. She revealed that DWTS would air first, probably a shorter finale than usual (probably an hour, starting at 8/7c) before leading into the Idol finale.

ABC Renews DWTS for Season 27>>>

It's hard to imagine how DWTS will cram an entire season into just four weeks. There will probably have to be a double or triple elimination, and even then we could have half of the couples still in the competition heading into the finale.

On the bright side, even though the DWTS finales are usually entertaining, two hours always seems extremely long with a lot of filler, so a shorter finale is appreciated.
