Dancing is a dangerous activity.
Every season of Dancing with the Stars serves to remind us of that, but we might have to expect even more injuries with Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars. The celebrities are continually upping their games and trying to show off new tricks. Sometimes, this does not end well.
This may be how Melissa Rycroft ended up in the hospital with a head and neck injury this weekend.
Rycroft was reportedly working on moves for her part in the group freestyle dance planned for this week when she fell. This was during the camera-blocking rehearsal, when the dancers take to the stage so that the director can set the cameras in the right locations. Melissa Rycroft's fall sent her to the hospital for injuries to both her head and neck.
There is no word yet as to the seriousness of these injuries.
A representative for Melissa Rycroft told People.com
made it sound like the trip to the hospital was more precautionary than anything:
"Melissa was taken by ambulance to a local hospital where she is currently being examined. She was accompanied to the hospital by her husband, Tye Strickland, and her dance partner, Tony Dovolani. Everyone is taking all necessary precautions at this time."
There were no more details to be found in the celebrity's Twitter account, although Melissa obviously felt up to writing on Monday morning. Her only tweet
following the accident reads as follows:
Thank you so much for sending your prayers..still seeing and talking to docs this AM, will give more details soon, but thanks for your love!
If Melissa is cleared to perform in Monday night's episode of Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars
, she and Tony are planning a tango. However, it is unfortunately not unusual for a performer to sit out an episode with injuries. Season-ending injuries have occurred in the past as well.
We will hopefully find out Melissa's actual condition during the week 5 performance show of Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars
