This is it, folks. I’ve been going through all the remaining couples who will be competing in the Dancing with the Stars
final performance show this Monday night, and I’m now down to the last couple. It is Lance Bass and Lacey Schwimmer’s turn to undergo some scrutiny.
Lance Bass is a former member of *NSYNC, and although he keeps insisting that he was worst dancer in the boy band and that he’s really not all that good, we can see through this false modesty. Although he definitely has a lot of things he needs to work on – his footwork and pigeon-toedness, for starters – I believe that his experience in *NSYNC really has given him an advantage. Because of his background, he knows how to give a good show and to engage with the audience. He’s a crowd pleaser.
Lance is definitely a great performer and he’s got a unique sense of style that perfectly matches that of newcomer Lacey Schwimmer. You can tell from their rehearsal footage and from their interviews backstage that they have grown to be very close friends, and that can only help them.
Lacey Schwimmer, of course, might be a newcomer to Dancing with the Stars
, but she is old hat in the world of televised dance competitions, being a finalist on So You Think You Can Dance
. She is a talented choreographer who gives Lance visually interesting and unique material to work with. Len Goodman might not appreciate their quirks, but he doesn’t get to pick the winner, does he? Sometimes, this couple veers too far into modern and hip hop dance styles, but when they strike the right balance between quirk and tradition, they are unstoppable.
He’s not the most technically proficient dancer in the competition – that would be Brooke Burke – but he and Lacey always bring something new and fresh to the dance floor every week that none of the other couples have. And these past couple of weeks, he has really worked hard to improve his sloppy footwork. It’s going to be an interesting Dancing with the Stars
finale, and I can’t wait to see who will outperform whom.
