Read the latest Dancing with the Stars Results
We've made it nine weeks into season 7 of
Dancing with the Stars, and now we're down to the penultimate results show of the season.
Last night, Lance and Lacey were able to decisively take the lead over Brooke and Derek. They earned accolade after accolade, leaving the competition wide open.
Tonight, we've got another star-studded results show, and more importantly, we'll find out which of the four remaining dancers will have to end their journey tonight. Stay with me all night as I provide you with live thoughts.
Tonight's results show begins immediately, without any recap of last night's performances at all. Instead, we are treated to the Queen of Soul herself, Aretha Franklin, singing "Chain of Fools," accompanied by the dancing of
Anna Trebunskaya,
Karina Smirnoff,
Louis van Amstel and
Dmitry Chaplin (of
So You Think You Can Dance), who could really use a haircut. I love Aretha, but she is one laaarge lady.
OK, now we get the recap of last night, including Brooke's fall from grace.
After the break, Leona Lewis performs, "Bleeding Love." Wow, Maks and Karina dance to this song, and they are h-h-hot.
Now, the judges give their two cents about what each couple brings to the competition. I'm glad that Bruno talks about Lance's quirkiness because if it were Len talking, he would just be Mr. Crankypants again.
Back from commercials.
Julianne Hough takes the stage, but instead of dancing, she sings her latest single, "My Hallelujah Song." The crowd is going nuts for her. I really can't believe how talented she is. Awww,
Derek Hough and
Mark Ballas dance with her as she sings. It's like a reunion of the band they used to have. Then Lacey does a barefoot contemporary solo. It feels like
SYTYCD. Where's Cat Deeley? Cute! Derek gives her a high-five at the end of the song.
Half-way through the
Dancing with the Results show, and still no word on who's staying and who's going. Instead, we have another performance, this time by John Legend. He performs "Green Light."
Awww, normally, I get bored by the testimonial filler that they tend to have on the results show, but there is a segment now in which the family and loved ones of the stars talk about how proud they are of them. It's heartwarming. I think I love Jimmy Bass (Lance's granddad) the most. He kind of rocks.
Aretha Franklin is back with her classic "Respect." Ooh, cool, current
Dancing with the Stars champions
Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas are dancing to the song as well. Kristi is just awesome. So glad she's back!
Uh oh, time for a cheesy pre-taped segment with each celeb, reading off of cue cards and sizing up his or her competition. Yawn.
Finally, the results. Millions voted last night and combining the judges' scores with our votes, in no particular order, here are the couples who will live to dance in the finals:
Lance Bass and
Lacey Schwimmer,
Brooke Burke and Derek Hough, and argh, we'll have to wait until after the final commercial break to find out the identiy of the third couple.
Annnnnd we're back. Lance and Lacey, and Brook and Derek are safe. The third couple who will be joining them next week is
Warren Sapp and
Kym Johnson. That means that
Cody Linley and Julianne Hough are eliminated.
