Dancing with the Stars 7: Kim Kardashian and Mark Ballas
There are 13 brand new couples competing for the mirror ball trophy this season on Dancing with the Stars. I've gone through nearly all of them individually, weighing their strengths and weaknesses, and today, I'm going to consider Kim Kardashian and Mark Ballas' chances at winning. To tell you the truth, I've been putting off analyzing this particular team for a while because I can't decide how I feel about having a celebutante like Kim on the show.

Sure, Dancing with the Stars is often a last-ditch vehicle enabling certain stars to hang on to their waning fame for just one moment more, but at least most of them were famous at some point for doing something worthwhile. (Yes, even raging blowhards like Tucker Carlson.) But should Kim Kardashian, she of the sex tape and of the tremendous posterior, really be on Dancing with the Stars? Surely, there is some other aging, former movie starlet who would be better served by learning how to foxtrot? Besides, isn't Dancing with the Stars a family show?

Kim Kardashian

Well, for all my hand-wringing over whether Kim deserves a spot on Dancing with the Stars, I can't deny that this girl's got notoriety to spare. People will be curious to see how she does and may give her a chance, at least at the beginning of the season.

I imagine that Kim feels like she has a lot to prove so she'll probably try really hard to succeed. Not only that, her sister Khloe Kardashian will be on Celebrity Apprentice this year, and Kim doesn't want her little sister to out-perform her.

Kim certainly is in danger of succumbing to the Curse of the Pretty People. In past seasons of Dancing with the Stars, the Curse has often afflicted models and beauty queens—people who have little discernible talent other than being beautiful. Kim's gotta really step up if she wants to escape a similar fate.

Mark Ballas

Mark hit the jackpot last season on Dancing with the Stars with the fabulous Kristi Yamaguchi. This amazing duo ran away from the pack from the very beginning of the season, and remained head and shoulders above their competition until they won the mirror ball trophy.

I'm 100 percent positive that Kim will not even begin to approach Kristi's level of greatness, and because of that, Mark is pretty much guaranteed not to win this. Sorry, Mark. Better luck next time.
