After last night's
Dancing with the Stars performance episode,
Kristi Yamaguchi and
Mark Ballas led the group of 12 with phenomenal scores.
Mario and
Karina Smirnoff also performed amazingly well, especially considering that this is only the second week of competition. The two couples who scored the lowest with the judges were
Penn Jillette and
Kym Johnson, followed by
Monica Seles and
Jonathan Roberts.
And, for the first time, ever, the first
Dancing with the Stars results show was hyped to be a doozy because two couples, one from the men's side and one from the women's side, would be going home. Actually, it wasn't really all that surprising. Everything played out pretty much how we expected.
Read on to see which couples are safe and which two mush sashay all the way home.
Your Take

I hate when they pair up strong dancers like Kym, Cheryl, and Julianne with sub par celebrities. It's so i...
On the men's side, in no particular order, the couples who will be returning to dance the tango or the jive next week are
Steve Guttenberg and
Anna Trebunskaya,
Jason Taylor and
Edyta Sliwinska, Mario and Karina Smirnoff, and
Cristian de la Fuente and
Cheryl Burke. Jason and Edyta were honored with an encore request for their mambo, which was just as hot as it was last night.
Unfortunately, this means that Penn Jillette and Kym Johnson have been eliminated. No amount of magic and bring Penn back into the competition now.
On the women's side, again in no particular order, the couples who have at least one more week on
Dancing with the Stars are
Shannon Elizabeth and
Derek Hough,
Marlee Matlin and
Fabian Sanchez, Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas,
Priscilla Presley and
Louis van Amstel, and
Marissa Jaret Winokur and
Tony Dovolani.
By process of elimination, Monica Seles and Jonathan Roberts are now out of the competition.
Unlike some notable
Dancing with the Stars results shows in the past, this one was a total non-shocker. We all expected that one of the bottom three stars based on judges' points - Adam, Penn or Monica - would be going home. Adam has the great fortune of being paired with America's darling,
Julianne Hough, which was probably why he squeaked by and the other two got the axe. He better spend every waking minute this week practicing his routine for next Monday if he wants to keep America's votes.
Tonight's special guest performers were the Jonas Brothers, singing "Take On Me" and "When You Look Me In the Eyes." Also performing were dancers from Cirque du Soleil.
Next Monday on
Dancing with the Stars, the ten remaining couples will be dancing either the jive or the tango. Don't miss it!
Which couple, besides Jason and Edyta, would you have liked to see perform an encore?
