Aiden Turner's 'DWTS' Blog: Our Quickstep Paints a Magical Picture
Monday, April 05, 2010
British hunk and All My Children alum Aiden Turner has teamed up with
BuddyTV to bring you the inside scoop as he competes for the coveted
mirror ball trophy on Dancing with the Stars. Here's what's on
Aiden's mind as he prepares for his third live performance tonight!
Thanks to you, my BuddyTV friends, I've made it through another week on Dancing
with the Stars.
Honestly speaking, the first elimination was kind of scary. I feel so invested in the show that I didn't want to be the one going home. The pressure is really on now! With each passing week, every couple really needs to step up their game; and that has been my biggest goal this week! And it all started again, bright and early, on Wednesday (the day after the first elimination) to learn the Quickstep.
The name of this dance doesn't fully prepare you for the seven hours a day of jumping up and down like a crazy man, whilst holding up a strict frame and keeping your head to the left... Trust me, it ain't easy!! This week, I used the story of our dance to really get myself into the mindset of the dance. I envisioned Edyta as my dream girl in a painting, and I was the painter. In the midst of the dance, the dream girl materializes; and the music, which you'll see tonight, really helps bring this story to life. I've been working really hard with this dance. The dance is so quick and technical; so the steps are really really hard to master. This, so far, has been the toughest dance I've done so far; and, due to the limited time to learn the dance (4 days), learning it has been the hardest thing that I've ever done!
I did enjoy a little reprieve last Friday (April 2nd) as it was my 33rd birthday. My birthday allowed for a little bit of a break ... and by break, I mean dinner with my mother, who flew over to celebrate, and some good friends. My mind and body really enjoyed the time with friends and family, especially the super duper wine (however, don't tell Edyta ... kidding). During rehearsal, Edyta really surprised me with a special gift for my birthday, which was fantastic! However, you'll have to check out the show tonight to see what it is! After dinner, I really wanted to hang out with my family and friends, but I was so tired from rehearsals that I had to take a raincheck on any further birthday celebrations. I needed to go to bed and get my rest to be ready for rehearsal on Saturday.
Now it's Monday, which is performance day! Today, I've already run through the rehearsal live show (or the pre-show practice). Nerves are apparent in all the couples, but we are all optimistic about tonight's performance and can't wait to do our best. I'm ready to show everyone my Quickstep, and I hope you enjoy!
Thanks for watching and voting last week. Please don't forget that your votes are very important to Edyta and I. I'd hate to go home so early :) xxxx
Vote please, pretty please: 1-800-868-3409
Think of it as a belated birthday gift to me :)
