Calling
rumors put forth by Pop Eater "malicious" Karina Smirnoff's rep rebuffed rumors that
Dancing with the Stars is picking between Karina and former fiancé Marksim Chmerkovskiy amidst reports that the two's personal problems have spilled into their professional relationship and the
DWTS stage.
Entertainment Weekly reports that the news is not true.
"The casting of professionals is determined by the casting of the celebrities, which is still in progress," says a source from the alphabet network. For his part, the rep for Maks mentioned that his contract goes beyond season 10, which is the upcoming season. "As to if he's coming back or not for next season, that always depends on casting," he said.
Meanwhile, Karina's rep has denied that the two's backstage drama is causing rifts between the two and those around them, both on Dancing with the Stars and Broadway's Burn the Floor.
"Karina loves being on
Dancing With the Stars and has a professional working relationship with Maksim. I can assure you that she has every intention of returning in the spring."
Karina, who this year finished fifth along with partner Aaron Carter, began dating Maks in the summer of 2008 and announced their engagement a mere six months later in December. The two broke off their engagement in September.
