After a successful gymnast and a not-so-successful swimmer on the last two seasons of Dancing with the Stars, diving legend Greg Louganis has expressed interest in waltzing into the dance floor when the ABC show returns for its 10th season in March 22.

"I want to be on Dancing with the Stars. It would be such a blast," says the four-time Olympic gold medalist.

Louganis, moreover, who turned 50 recently, underwent major obstacles prior to his Olympic stint, including a rough childhood, an abusive relationship, alcoholism, and finally testing positive for HIV in 1988.

He revealed that prior to professional diving - including bashing his head on a diving board at the 1988 Seoul Games - he was a dancer as a child.

"I don't know about the outfits, but I've worn worse," he says, adding that as a child he wore "sequins, headbands and poofy sleeves" for jazz routines.

But just the same, he likes to take on the challenge.

"I've never done ballroom but I want to try. Dance really captures something you just can't put into words."

Just to get you up to speed, three former Olympians have won Dancing with the Stars' mirror ball trophy: speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno in season 4, figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi in season 6, and gymnast Shawn Johnson in season 7.

March 22 marks the return of Dancing with the Stars, with some major changes happening in terms of format and composition, including a new co-host, with Samantha Harris jumping ship.
