Raised in Sterling, Virginia, Phillip is the son of a landscaping company owner. A highly spiritual person, he lived with his parents and three siblings until he went to college. His mother home schooled him and his siblings until eighth grade because she wanted to provide them with better education and at the same time keep the family tightly knit. Phillip eventually gained friends through church and local public school where he eventually got involved in wrestling, musical theatre and choir.
Upon graduating high school, Phillip entered James Madison University as a music major. While there, he often made music with his younger brother, who entered the same university. His older brother, on the other hand, was sent out on the Navy for six months on an undisclosed mission. Upon graduating college, Phillip moved to Nashville to pursue his musical career and is now working as a server on a dinner cruise to pay the rent. Aside from singing and dancing, he also plays the drums and composes his own music.
Articulate and smart, Phillip is a soulful man who sees his talent as a blessing from God that he must share with others. He admits that he excels in hip hop, jazz, Latin and ballroom dancing, and has also been trained in tap and swing. As for singing, he enjoys pop, soul and R&B.
"Music is one thing I can do that I know brings great joy not only to me but to others as well. Music speaks in ways that words alone never could," Phillip said.
Phillip is one of 14 contestants in ABC's Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann, where he is one of Team Bruno’s six members.
