Playing the young central character is Steven Kaplan. Although Kaplan made his acting debut in 2005, Bart Got a Room will mark his first venture into feature films. His previous credits include the long-running crime drama,
Law & Order, and the eight-minute short,
Flutter Kick.
Alia Shawkat, made popular by her starring role on FOX's Emmy-award winning series,
Arrested Development, will play Kaplan's best friend.
As for Macy and Hines, the veteran actors are set to play Kaplan's quarreling parents. Macy, who is married to
Desperate Housewives star
Felicity Huffman was last seen on the big screen in the films
Wild Hogs and
He Was a Quiet Man, while Hines co-starred as Becky on the summer hit,
Waitress.
At present, Cheryl Hines can be seen playing
Larry David's wife on HBO's
Curb Your Enthusiasm. Her performance on the series has garnered her two Primetime Emmy Award nominations and the 2005 Gracie Allen Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress.
Bart Got a Room is written and will be directed by Brian Hecker. Plum Pictures, the same company handling the English remake of
Cache and the Julia Stiles-led flick
The Bell Jar, will oversee production.
Principal photography is set to begin this month in Florida.
Meanwhile, Cheryl Hines is not the only
Curb Your Enthusiasm star with a blossoming film career. Just last month,
Jeff Garlin, who plays David's manager Jeff Greene, released
I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With, a romantic comedy about an overweight connoisseur who, despite his good luck with the ladies, can't seem to find one who shares his passion for eating.
