Since Curb Your Enthusiasm debuted on in 2000, the HBO mockumentary has enjoyed wide critical acclaim and a steadily growing dedicated audience that has helped the show detached from its initial “cult” only status.  Thus far, the series has been nominated for more than 20 Emmy nominations, and has received a Golden Globe for Best Television Comedy in 2003.  And while the program is getting lauded for its subversive take on the "show about nothing" motif and its quirky ensemble, the creative efforts from people behind the series have also positively caught critics' attention.

Producers Guild of America (PGA), the trade organization representing television producers, film producers and New Media producers in the United States, has announced Wednesday the list of TV nominees for 20th annual PGA award ceremony.  Curb Your Enthusiasm received a nod in the category of comedy series, enlisted along HBO's Entourage, NBC's The Office and 30 Rock and Showtime's Weeds.

This is marks the third time Curb Your Enthusiasm has been nominated for a PGA.  The show was first nominated and won in 2002 for Producer of the Year – Episode Comedy and then again in 2004 for the same category.  The series' last nod from the PGA was in 2006.

Aside from Larry David's show, Mad Men, Damages, Dexter, Boston Legal and Lost are also contending for the drama series trophy.  As for the non-fiction category, contenders include Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List, This American Life, 60 Minutes, Deadliest Catch and Frontline, while The Amazing Race, The Colbert Report, Project Runway, Real Time With Bill Maher, and Top Chef are vying for the live entertainment/competition prize.

Nominations for other categories will be announced on January 5, 2009 along with the individual producers in all categories.  The 20th Annual Producers Guild Awards itself will be held on January 24 at the Hollywood Palladium.
