Robert David Hall as
Al Robbins Robert David Hall was born on November 9, 1947 in East Orange, New Jersey. He was a student at Tustin High School and an alumnus of the University of California, Los Angeles with a degree in English Literature. A talented guitar player, Hall used to be a professional musician and spent many years building a prolific career as a radio personality. In addition, Hall has also lent his voice to various commercials and animated series.
When an 18-wheeler truck crushed his car in 1978, it was necessary to have both of Hall’s legs amputated. Aside from becoming an amputee, more than half of his body was burned due to the explosion that also occurred during the accident. At present, he wears artificial limbs, and has become a spokesperson for disabled Americans. He intends on using his popularity to encourage other people with disabilities to pursue their dreams. Of his condition, Hall said, “Just because I'm a person with a disability, that shouldn't limit me.”
Despite going through the debilitating accident, Hall has worked hard to continue on in the entertainment industry. Although he is now most known as Dr. Albert Robbins on the CBS hit series, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Hall has numerous television and film projects to his name. On the small screen, he has appeared in such shows as The Littles, Mann and Machine, Life Goes On, LA Law,
Beverly Hills 90210 , Party of Five, High Incident, Brooklyn South, Touched By an Angel,
The Practice ,
The West Wing , Family Law and
CSI: Miami . His film credits include Dream Lover, Starship Troopers, Class Action, Promised Land, The Negotiator, Shattering Images, My Father’s House and The Eavesdropper.
He married his current wife, Judy Sterns, in 1999, and has a son named Andrew from his previous marriage to Connie Cole. Prior to his marriage to Cole, Hall was married to Susan Petroni, and their union lasted for 3 years.
