CSI star
Gary Dourdan has some issues. CBS recently announced that Dourdan would be leaving the series after this season. While the agreement was said to be mutual, CBS did admit that Dourdan had some personal issues that played a part in his departure. Those personal problems came to a head Monday morning in Palm Springs. TMZ is reporting that Dourdan was arrested at 5:20am Monday morning on suspicion of possession of heroin, cocaine, ecstasy and prescription drugs. That's some major stuff. Dourdan was found by police asleep in his car on the side of the road.

There's no word yet as to whether Dourdan was under the influence of any of these drugs when the arrest was made, but given that inventory of drugs, the point is likely moot. The real question is Dourdan's mental state at the time of his arrest. Was he depressed after his dismissal from
CSI? Or, is this behavior simply indicative of why he was on his way out in the first place? This isn't your typical Hollywood star arrested for a DUI. Hard drugs are a different game altogether. I'm no lawyer, but won't the possession of these sorts of drugs potentially lead to significant jail time?
I'm not a big
CSI watcher (OK, I don't watch at all), so I can't speak to how important Dourdan is to the series. Procedural TV is the easiest type of show to replace actors on, and
CSI will likely be fine. Let's hope Gary figures his stuff out and has the right people around him to do so. However, it has to be said that details are still sketchy. It looks pretty terrible, but maybe there's some sort of explanation. Maybe he had just gotten involved with some bad people and was unaware of the drugs that were in his car. Grasping at straws, I know, but you always want to give people the benefit of the doubt before all the details emerge.
WIll CSI suffer from Dourdan's departure?
